You're right, but it was probably personal. Dont you think?

I read that he was involved in a bar brawl that he was injured in. It looks like he got a lot of criticism for his behavior. He appears to be a knucklehead. That stunt with Pierce shows signs of immaturity.

being his 1st game back from arthroscopic surgery i'm gonna give him a pass for a while... he needs to get his legs back under him before we can fairly judge his abilities... the mouth sparring w/Pierce might have been brewing for a while, who knows... Pierce is a douchebag, i think this is well known... dude got stabbed in the neck at a club probably talking some of the same kinda smack to guys that got Giddens after him in the first place... i'd like to see how Giddens plays defense tho, i've read Doc Rivers talking up his defensive ability in previous quotes.

Agreed. I mean didn't Q-Rich have words with Pierce all the time? They were always woofin'...Remember when Q wanted to fight the guy after that game at the Garden where they both got ejected? I thought Q was gonna beat his ass right there in the tunnel when they both got tossed..Can't really recall Richardson having problems like that with anyone else. It's obvious Pierce can rub guys the wrong way...Let's go easy on Giddens here - after seeing that exchange last night, I'd be willing to bet that Pierce never treated him well while he was there. I don't blame Giddens at all -- in fact, I actually liked the competitive fire he showed. In the end, we might need that salary slot for other things, but as of right now, Giddens has got talent and he's close to being 100% healthy. Let's see what he's got. Hoopshype has his salary at a little over $1.1 million for next year -- for that kind of money, maybe he shows he's a keeper..

The Curse Of JR Reid

JR Reid was traded by San Antonio with Brad Lohaus and future 1st-round pick to New York Knicks for Charles Smith and Monty Williams on February 12, 1996. The Knicks had three first round picks in the June 1996 draft. Can you name them?

JR Rider was late for practice while he lived in the same building as the Atlanta Hawks practiced. How difficult could it be to ride an escalator downstairs for your job?

JR Smith has an NBA all star skill set and a midnight church league brain. Smith got off easy for running a stop sign and killing an East Orange man because his daughter wanted closure. He calls out Kobe. Not cool.

Notice a trend here?

JR Giddens had 5 years of collegiate drama and discord, to go along with his stats. At Kansas, Giddens was identified as the primary instigator during a highly publicized bar fight. Multiple witnesses reported that Giddens was involved in an attack that saw 10-12 people beat Jeremiah Creswell with fists, bricks and bottles. Saying he was trying to defend himself, Creswell brandished a knife and stabbed Giddens and four others. The Kansas athletic department received an anonymous tip regarding improprieties centering around J.R. Giddens and NCAA recruiting violations. Kansas wound up paying the price.

The talent is there to be cultivated. Problem is that talent can only take him so far. His ability is not the issue. It is his maturity.

Giddens desperately needs a mentor, a personal chef, a good woman, a life coach and a new agent. If not, it is a stone cold lock that he will be the answer to a Celtics trivia question in within three years.

I read about this also. I believe he was stabbed. I have also read about how he has matured. However, with the D'Antoni I think he needs to be a finished project as far as his character is concerned and that could doom him in NY.

He even went on to have issues with the Celtics too. With teammates and the coaching staff. He has the demeanor of a knucklehead when I saw him on the court last night.

Oh man, I still can't believe Postell thought he should be taking more shots on that Knicks team. smh.

well, in Lavor's defense, he did back up his words when given the chance late in the season before his injury. Still glad we let him walk though

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

wasn't that 1 game that was completely meaningless at the very end of the season where we were resting Spree & Allan?

watching the Philly game, Giddens' defense isn't half bad... does a decent job keeping his man in front of him, fights for position in post defense, & can block a shot

Giddens plays with alot of passion and emotion. He sometimes shows this with words and body language. In the past this would lead to banishment with D'Antoni but hopefully now that Walsh is scouting the team this will not be the case.

Giddens was actually known as a good defender and playing with Boston certainly couldn't hurt either.

I like the way he plays. He is a good rebounder as well.

I want to see more of him though before I decide to bring him back next year.

i don't think u can expect to get much better with a $1M dollar contract next season... i think he will be here personally.

I don't pick up that option. That $1.whatever million is significant since we have just enough for 2 max guys. I'd pick up Walker's option for sure but I'd decline Giddens and see if I can re-sign him to a league minimum deal. It's not like anyone's going to be out there giving him the MLE.

i'm declining Sergio for sure & trying to keep Giddens if i can squeeze in his $1M.

Oh yeah, decline Sergio for sure. But even then I'm not sure if we can squeeze in Giddens. I guess we'll let John Gabriel (aka cap guru Walsh hired) figure that out when the time comes.

if i have to choose between him & Walker i guess i take Walker but i do like what i see from Giddens so far... seems like an excellent rebounder for a G & his defense is solid... we need guys that can bring those intangibles on low money contracts next summer if we plan on focusing the offense through 2 main guys.
