CLASSIC !

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Varando does remind me a great deal of Theo Ratliff when he was @ Wyoming--those guys are very very similar size game athletic ability etc... . He's on my 5 list--but would the Knicks want a guy like that--probably not? The Knicks could end up with both Varando and Sidney--that would add a ton of frontcourt depth. I guess whatever happens happens.

the problem is apparently he doesnt play like that. He plays like a 35 year old antoine walker. He's fat, doesnt play in the post and doesnt defend. Once the Knicks signed that of course would be MDAs fault.

I'm trying to find something positive to read about him and I cant. His write up on draft express was BRUTAL.

Work him out. If he shows up in shape tell him to shut it down and we will sign him to a 3 year deal. He's 20 btw.

Briggs i have alot of respect for your intel but this time I have to respectfully disagree. i have seen this kid play several times in person in tournaments & although he has enormous physical gifts he doesnt have "it". You talk about players who take plays off this kid takes "quarters" off. I saw him last year in the Les Schwab Invitational in Portland Oregon & he spent most of his time chewing on his mouth guard in the early games against inferior private school teams from Portland ( at one point calling for the ball half-heartedly with one hand & holding his mouth guard in the other & was shocked when the PG actually threw him the ball & he had to drop his piece in order to catch it). When he had to play "A" talent teams from NY & LA he tried to turn it on but couldnt & drifted outside falling in love with his jumpshot rather than mixing it up w/real bullies down low. I hate to say this on this of all boards but I honestly turned to my friend at Nike who had hooked me up with the floor seats at the tourney & said "at what point should I start chanting Ed-dy Cur-ry when Sidney gets the ball"....

Also, the Sidney family is more than a little shady in terms of viewing him as their meal ticket & thats why he had issues getting on the court at Mississippi State. Hopefully somewhere along the line he'll get some good guidance & coaching or he'll decide to care but for right now this is not a slam dunk pick

He's a big kid with a lot of talent that needs to be explored. Labeling an 18 or 19 YO kid is stupid.
The same stuff you are saying about Sydeny is not half as bad as what people said about Andrey Blatche--how is he playing? Maybe he is James Lang maybe he is Jermaine Oneal--we dont know.

True maybe I caught him on a off 3, 4 or 5 games but on the other hand it's very easy for Big Men who develop early to look like Goliaths when beating up on Davids. Look at how these two turned out...

Walker was a similar prospect. Walker, Ariza and Chandler are/were in that category of one and done players that weren't highly touted in college, but declared anyway.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

My feelings too. Briggs should work for the Knicks but unfortunately the coach could care less about developing players. We just traded a lottery big man who never played. I would love to get one of the guys you mention Briggs, I just don't trust this organization anymore, especially the coach. I am open though and hope they do something this off season.

Would be interesting to make an immediate promise to such a kid, if he's that good you do not want him wowing evryone in workouts and climbing up the draft boards.
