TMS this thread is a very proposal in this thread.
Trade Chandler and Walker. Two young, cheap and athletic wing players to
Hornets
for
Collison and Peja.
From BB standpoint NO gets younger players, and Chandler is a solid rotation guy. NY clearly gets the better end of it from a talent standpoint, but NO doesnt dump a contract. Trading a long term guy for an expiring is dumping a contract. This is a trade that reduces NO payroll by $18mm because of the luxury tax.
Sorry, but this is a big deal for owners. Jazz just traded Brewer for nothing to get out of luxury tax and we are talking a $2mm contract. Their best wing defender for nothing on a playoff team in the same conference.
There is a certainly a market for this type of deal for the Knicks. Collison will never start on NO so long as they have Paul. If you want to argue that a better deal is out there for them fine, but not a lot of deals will put $18mm right into a cheap owners (Shin IS cheap) wallet.
You disagree. I get it. But there is a market for this. We just saw it
