Absolutely agree. Horford is the exact type of player we desperately need. Mostly for his attitude, which is night-and-day from NoDLee.Also big +1 on the entire OP. Losers make excuses.
What the excuse--David Lee had 23 points 18 rebounds and 2 blocks--everyone else but Chandler scked and lost the game for us. Galliniari 6-11 38 minutes 1 rebound--no excuse necessary obvious sck. D Lee is talking about the team--not himself. I love to hear this stat padding--tell me how do you stat pad 18 rebounds???? Bad players=loses D Lee is a very good player. Same thing was said of Zach Randolph--what do you want Gallinari at PF and Yi at C/
Excuses for not being capable of stopping anyone, blaming it on being out of position.
If he's putting his body on the line each night but getting knocked around because he's too small, then it's a different story. Picture: a bruised, bleeding and exhausted Lee, having been knocked down after several attempts to stop a bigger man's drive, venting in frustration about being undersized. That's when you can rightly beef about being too small for your position.
But Dave, you're undersized so therefore you don't even try to body up and stop somebody? Take a charge? Contest a shot like you mean it? Give the fould to prevent a crucial hoop?
Not to mention the type of "woe is me" and self-centered mentality that his comments (and his play, if you're paying attention) indicate.
Maybe I'm stuck in a previous era of the NBA (see Oakley, Charles), but I have a hard time respecting a player who is so dreadfully uneven in his approach at the two ends of the floor.
And, relax, I'm not blaming him exclusively. The whole team sucks, including Gallo who I thought was going to be much better. I was a big Gallo lover early in the year, but he has been horrible in recent weeks. Most troublingly in the mental approach, which appeared to be one of his strengths. I hope he can pull it together.
