Just saw a replay of the BYU/Utah game and I gotta say, Fredette wasn't good at all. Maybe he still had some lingering effects from the stomach virus, I don't know, but he really looked out of it. He picked up the 2 early fouls which ruined any hope of establishing any kind of early momentum (which pissed me off because the refs were letting a lot go early in that game, a very sloppy/helter-skelter game early I might add) and basically sat until there was 4 mins. to go in the 1st half. When he reentered, he just looked lost -- wasn't looking for his own shot at all (I wanted to at least get a good look at that jumper but looking back now, I don't know if he even took one jumpshot all game) and the few times where he did look to score, he forced his drives badly, either having his shot blocked or firing up some hard, awkward attempts off the backboard... I like how BYU's coach stuck with him in the 2nd half though, esp. after that kid Loyd Jr. played a brilliant 1st half at the point and obviously deserved to play more. Lappas picked up on that right away and I agree: Loyd's time will come, but it was much more important at that point to stick with Fredette there in the hopes of getting him going once again as the touney approaches. Good move...I realize I wasn't watching this kid at his best but honestly, I don't know how his game will translate at the next level. I know he can shoot the ball and he does look like he's got some nice court vision and passing ability but the rest of his game really doesn't look top shelf to me at all. Just thinking ahead in terms of the pro game -- he doesn't look overly quick (you wanna talk quickness, Loyd Jr's quick), doesn't look like he can be a factor on defense at all (this guy looks like he could get eaten up by quicker guys in the NBA - it happened a few times last night even) and even though he does have a husky/stocky type build, he doesn't appear to use any kind of a strength factor to his advantage on either end of the floor. Hanging his head a little on the bench too - he looked a little down that he wasn't able to bring it... Again, this was the only time I saw him in live action -- he only played 19 mins. and obviously wasn't firing on all cylinders for whatever reason...The book is still open on him as far as I'm concerned - I look forward to seeing him again soon.

I tell ya what though, two guys who did impress the hell outta me for BYU were Michael Loyd Jr. and Brandon Davies. Both very young, Loyd barely played his first year, then reshirted last year and Davies is only a freshman -- you can tell both guys still need some work but man, all I kept thinking was that I was watching clones of Darren Collison and Mark Aguirre out there with this kids.... Loyd's just lightning quick and his transition game, penetration & finishing ability were all very impressive. Looks like he's got some ability to pass it & knock down a jumper too. And this kid Davies looked very good scoring the ball around the basket. Listed at 6'9" 230 lbs, like almost every player on the court last night (save for Loyd's exciting play at different points) Davies isn't very flashy but he's a very capable scorer in close. And he's got very soft touch out to about 15' and at the FT line. Lappas was saying how Davies is a kid that just "knows how to make buckets," and that he'll really help that team once he starts getting doubled as it should further open up the Cougars' already potent perimeter game. I think he needs to develop physically a little more, work on developing his quickness and continue to add to his post arsenal but this young fella really looked good. Same with Loyd Jr. - he needs to get a little stronger and he needs to learn how to recognize what's a good shot attempt and what's not (drove it hard and successfully last night for the most part but on a few occasions he took it right into the trees and either got bottled up or forced it up off the glass over defenders). It'll come though - again, they're both very young but sky's the limit... Both of these guys had coming out parties last night in a big way (Loyd actually did have 19 the previous game against New Mexico). I expect to hear a lot more from them. They both look very promising...

Jimmer Freddette and Jamine Petersen--those are my two main guys. If I can move up and get Jimmer and grab Jamine at 35--we will have one heckuva draft. Two lottery talent players for a low 1 and high 2.

Jimmer--under rated under appreciated marksman with great vision and a powerful body with very good body control. He's been sck his last two starts but I have already seen his goods several times--what a nice looking player.

Jamine---Al Harrington replacement. What a perfect type player for the Knicks strong body with multi faceted skills and burgoening game. Has the ability to grab 20 rebounds knicks down 5 3's and the athletiscm to win a dunk contest all wrapped up to one package. His production is starting to go off the charts as is his efficiency from every angle. What a sleeper---he has to be the biggest sleeper in CBB.

Fredette would consider coming out if there is something concrete.

Another 20-5 in only 20 minutes tonight BYU is by far the closest thing in the NBA to what MDA runs--in fact its a replica of SSOL. The guy is the engine--he's a steve nash clone in waiting. We need to make sure we have a PG for the future after blowing the last draft--there is no PG who will run the MDA system--who can shoot like Jimmer in college basketball. But we have to somehow get a pick and promise it to him--he's from Glenn Falls--he's a Knick fan a great kid and a great basketball player. We need a PG who can shoot close to 50% from the field 47%+ from 3 with good size vision and who gets the ball to the open man without turning it over. BYU is the highest scoring team in the country reaching 100 3 times and they have the biggest differential. I know this kid is going to be great--it would be a steal of a draft pick if we can lock him in the 20's

I was looking back at sets of games---the 4 games befor ehe came down with mono

31.5 points per game 6.3 assits 3.2 rebounds 2 steals 65% from the field against Az Nebraska Nevada and Est wash

had the mono with recovery time and had another set of games 8 in a row
sans a game against AF where they were up 40

8 game set
27.1 points 5 assists 4 rebounds FG% 48.7 conference MNW opponents

These sets were against strong level comp--no cupcakes

It's too bad he was sick pretty bad twice and that he gets so little TV exposure--unless you stay up late and have CBS spots channel and dont mind watching west coach mountain basketball--but there has been no other guard which has produced like him[when fully healthy] in the same system that has the highest scoring out put and differential in the entire country.

The Knicks can't trade next years pick. They are not allowed to trade their first round pick two years in a row.

I liked the way Gallo played tonight. I think as a fan you don't want your guy to settle to play the wrong way. Im a closet Gallo fan and when I see glimpses of what i saw tonight---Im in his corner. If he plays like this--I want to keep him as a core starter. I want to see the guy use his size for his benefit and stay away from shooting the 3. Im not a fan of someone who sits 30 feet from the basket or doesnt want to be aggressive. Tonight he was aggressive and smart--and only fouls held him back from having the best game as a Knick. I hope that they do indeed read the fans critsicms--I don't wish ill will on Gallo--I want him to succeed. Whoever is telling him to stay 30 feet from the bakset--or if its just a learned trait--it wont work in the NBA. I don't want to see pssy play and Gallo played more like a man tonight.

Hell has frozen over.
Lebron will now choose a sack of potatoes over $60 mill to come to NY.
