Maybe TD is having trouble digesting this no foul at the end of games stuff and D'A canna' love him 'cause of it

*shrugs* Brings his lunch pail every play, knocks down shots, extends the floor, runs the break, can find the open man, keeps point guards in front of him. Last extended minutes (20+?) had 6 assists. His own coach gave him props. since then DNP-CD and 3 minutes.

Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

The Knicks are 2-6 w/McGrady they are making a run at the playoffs. There are no minutes for first round picks that play hard on defense and will be on the roster next year.

he's obviously a bust since he's not getting minutes... didn't u get the memo?

Another DNP-CD. I miss the part where he shot the basketball at the opposition's rim. Well it's all part of the 2010 plan.

Seriously, how worse could have the Knicks played with Douglas?
House 23 minutes, Douglas DNP in a 20 point blowout is unforgivable.

Remember all the guarantees that this young man would get plenty of playing time passed the trading deadline. It seems like only a couple of weeks ago. Oh wait it was.

Poor Toney Douglas. The Knicks should have done right by him and traded him.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

You know oohah, I'm really starting to feel that way too. It makes no sense to just let him rot. Decreasing value until he becomes a forgotten man and side piece in a trade. I give Clyde credit for constantly making it a point to bring Douglas' name up during games so you don't forget what's going on here.

i would have much rather traded Toney Douglas as part of that T-Mac trade than give up 1 of the other assets we gave up in the T-Mac trade.

Don't you know that those picks are worthless once Lebron signs in the summer?

right, that & the fact that rookies that get no playing time are worthless too... we mine as well have unloaded that excess $1 mil off our cap for the summer while we were doing our early spring cleaning.

Lack of PT a mystery for Toney

As the Knicks play out the string and look at players for next season, rookie guard Toney Douglas still is out of the picture.

Douglas did not play for the second straight game in last night's disgraceful 113-93 loss to the Nets after he played just the final three minutes of the rout over the Pistons on Wednesday. Considering Donnie Walsh forked over $3 million to buy the Lakers' first-round pick to take Douglas at No. 29, his lack of playing time is baffling. Douglas has played in 36 of 62 games.

Across this miserable season, coach Mike D'Antoni periodically has talked about taking a closer look at Douglas, but it has been mostly talk. After the Tracy McGrady trade, D'Antoni said he wanted to play Douglas more because "we have serious decisions to make over the summer."

D'Antoni's failure to make Douglas a staple of the rotation and his remark about summer decisions are indications that he does not know if Douglas is part of the future.

The Knicks could include Douglas in a sign-and-trade over the summer to open up for salary cap space. Douglas is year one of his two-year rookie contract.

"I'm not really surprised," Douglas told The Post. "It's a business. I just feel I'll be ready when he calls my name. I can only control the things I can control -- working out, always being in the gym. When I get there I'll make an impact. The other stuff is out of my control. Whatever other decisions the coach makes, it's on them."

Douglas' work ethic and positive attitude have helped him gain favor with the coaching staff. But his lack of a point-guard mentality hurts him as a small guard. Douglas was touted for his defense, but D'Antoni's philosophy is to judge players on offensive skill.

I'm so tired of D'Antoni already. This article shows the main problem I have with him: he is all talk. Where was Toney D in last night's massacre? Where were the shots for Walker? When will he truly start developing Gallo, who definitely has talent but needs direction to really be the player he can be? What happened with Hill? Why didn't you use Darko?

I couldn't stand Larry Brown because it was evident he had an agenda here that had nothing to do with coaching basketball. It has been the same with Mike D, who has made a name of himself here for the drama concerning the system and his bad communication with players rather than coaching to win.

I don't care about the record anymore, I care about having a coach I feel is all about winning and developing players for that important next season. Mike D still hasn't proved to be that coach.

I thought the main problem here for a long time was a lack of conitnuity, sepcifically form the top down. It was always the coach/GM's fault.

I'm glad got a fair shot but I'm at teh end of my rope with him now too. I think his main problem is his ego though. He seems infatuated by maintaining his SSOL identity. Fuck that. Pat Riley didn't come here and try to make the team The Showtime Knicks.

I was a big proponent of giving time to let it develop but I'm officially starting the clock on him. THe priority should have been developing the young guys once it became clear the team was garbage (again).

Exactly, a good coach coaches the players he has, not the players he wants to have. Honestly, this team is not good enough to play run and gun. We don't have smart decision makers, and until we got Sergio, we really did not have a pg. MDA should have been preaching defense from the start, and why he never played Darko is beyond me. Darko had the skills to at least get 10-15 minutes a game, and he would have provided the defensive presence we are now lacking.

Sergio Rodriguez appears to me to be a pretty nice third-string point guard.

You could be the most harden MDA supporter but you have to pause and scratch your head about what is going on here with Douglas. It defies logic on so many levels. Even his own comments contradict his actions.
