Thats a fair point. There must have been some sort of breakdown behind the scenes. There is definitely bad blood now.

It's a fair point. But then again, Isiah had free reign to do whatever he was doing

Legendary broadcaster Marv Albert, the Knicks' lone radio broadcaster during the 1969-70 championship season in an era when the home games weren't carried on TV, was not invited to last night's 40th anniversary celebration. In another slight, during the video montage, the Garden used the TV call of Willis Reed coming out of the tunnel and not Albert's much-more famous radio call. Albert declined to comment.

YOUR WRONG. Albert refused to re-up with MSG because they wanted him to be more positive. OK, I can accept him leaving for those reasons. What I could not accept was that he used his new YES position to bash New York every chance he got. The way he constantly gleefully detailed every woe ever to hit MSG.

It was constant and over the top. Even Marc Jackson once had to remind he they were not covering the Knicks. The guy is a douche bag sexual deviant WHO HAD THE NERVE to sound off on Isiah's sexual harassment suit. This from a guy who got axed from sportscasting for biting and harassing a former lover. The guy was guilty of assault and worse.

Marv Albert is no great person or whatever, but he was arguably the greatest talent associated with the New York Knicks. He should have been there regardless of what type of panties he prefers. And, for the life of me, I'll never understand why people care so much and get so worked up about honest (albeit sarcastic) assessment of the New York Knicks. They did suck and they were a joke and no one had a clue what they doing for a very long time.

He didnt have free reign, he got fired. Who knows what happened between Marv and management. It might have gotten personal.

he got fired after a high profile lawsuit, after the issue became external. not to mention, every justification I've seen from MSG was attributed his termination to basketball performance

I'm not in no way sticking up for Dolan, but Dolan did give Marv Albert a second chance when the entire NBA turned their back on Marv because of his behavior off the air. When Marv first got in trouble for his bedroom affairs, the thought was he was done and would never be allowed to work in this town again. With all the bad press the Knicks still brought back Marv. Not to mention Marv wanted more money so Dolan did not renew his contract. After that Marv ran to the media to state how bad he was treated by the Knicks organization. If Dolan did not give Marv a second chance Marv would probably not have a job now.

While I cannot remember who was first or second, I'll assume the Knicks brought him back first.

The sodomy-ass-biting-panty-wearing fiasco happened in 97. In 99 he broad-casted for both the Knicks and TNT. Bob Costas stepped down after the 2000 Finals, specifically for Marv to return. While Knicks deserve some kudos for giving him a second chance, I'm pretty sure he'd have a job now regardless

Marv Albert has made significantly positive contributions to my life. For example, one of my fraternity brothers and I used to watch our boys hit on girls and scream "a SPECTACULAR move" from across the bar or "YES!" ("and it counts!") or YESS!!!" ("with authority!") or YYYYEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!" ("he's on fire!"), depending upon the clutchness of the beer pong/beirut shot. "He throws up a prayer--AND IT'S GOOD!" And if we witnessed a walk of shame, you definitely heard "OH--A FACIAL" or "you know she'd like to have that one back" if our our buddy was in listening distance

Thanks Marv!

This is not true. NBC who still had control of the NBA put out a statement that under no circumstances would they reinstate Marv. He was considered a pariah by nearly every sports writer and national publication. David Stern was not amused at the situation either. When Dolan first floated the idea of hiring Marv in a capacity of just being an on air personality on MSG, the announcement was met with protesters outside of Plenn Plaza from groups such as NOW and Evangelical Christian groups (I witness some of these protest myself). Dolan went ahead with the idea and gave him his own show the MSG Sportsdesk. The daily protest went on for sometime. After about a couple of months when the hoopla died down, Dolan moved him back to doing Knick games. After doing Knick games, it was only then that NBC decided to bring it back and they credited Dolan and for personally vouching for his character. He didn't get on TNT until NBC lost the coverage rights.

I don't like Dolan but I could care for Marv even less. Marv would never do what Dolan did for him. He has thrown countless guys under the bus to preserve himself. The funny thing is that most of the sport writers that are crying about Marv not being at the ceremony was killing Dolan for giving Marv another chance 10 years ago. You can't make that stuff up.

I know what I was hearing from the rug wearer on Yes...his constant detailing of everything he feels is wrong with MSG and the Knicks while covering other teams and games. Whats not to know.

Everything I said is factual and can be backed up

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
