I think giving up the 2012 pick was a bad idea, I was OK with Hill plus the SWAP. Now that the trade is made and people immediately decided Lebron is not coming here and we should have kept our draft picks. Can you guys explain what it is that you wish to accomplish with the draft picks?
You have a shot at drafting a franchise player? Good!. Are those players going to be better than Lebron and Wade? If ALL you ever get is a shot at a high draft (AND THAT IS ALL YOU WOULD EVER GET)why would you rather have that over a shot at Lebron and Wade? What is the rationale? We did this draft pick thing before with Ewing but as far as I can tell we didn't win any rings that way either.
Whatever route you go there are lots of risks and to criticize people for taking risks to obtain the absolute best in the business is pretty thick in my opinion. You want to compare this with what IT did, fine. If you think giving up draft picks for a shot at Lebron and Wade is the same as trading for Marbury and Curry then you are indicating you think Lebron/Wade and Marburyu/curry are at the same level. Otherwise you don't have a case. Yes its a gamble and so is going through the draft. There is a reason its called a LOTTERY. We could do what you guys have been suggesting and end up with 8-10th spot players for the next three years in a row. And then all of you would point fingers and start yelling at Walsh for not getting "value" for Jeffries and letting him expire. You can't win in NY can you?
