i agree, Chandler's way too undersized for the 4.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Actually, Wainwright used him at the 3,4 and 5. Since he was the most versatile player on the team, Wrainwright often moved him to cover up defensively. From the games against SJU, Wrainwright had him guard all 5 positions during one game.

As I recall Chandler wasn't happy about that since he wasn't able to develop at his natural position. One reason why he left earlier than his coach wanted. Also about using him heavily in the post in a slow up offense. I remember Jay Bilas doing a story on him about how Wrainwright promised him if he stays that he wouldn't do that the next season but Chandler decided to leave early.

His physical tools allow him to get away with doing it at spurts but he was always projected to be a 3 not a 4.

Going back to draft day 2008 that was Walsh's plan. When ask why did you draft another SF with 3 already on the roster, he responded Gallianri is a PF and maybe C because he is still growing.

Gallo is gonna grow into his body and with a summer where he can can actually work on his strength, He should be much better equipped next year for PF.

MDA really wants to Play Sergio, cuz he's exactly the right kind of PG for his system. A penetrator with good court vision, passing and a decent enough shot to make it all work. He pushes the ball as his natural default. Trust me MDA wants to play this kid.

Yeah, I remember you and I were debating this on draft night about Walsh's plan to play him at the PF. Walsh actually anticipated that he would get time last season at the 4. Didn't his handlers blame the Knicks for his back trouble for making him lift weights to bulk him up for the 4 which MDA denied? He seems like he added muscle so that crap that his handlers were talking about was pretty lame.

I don't really want to see him bulk up so much as just really improve his core and base strength in order to hold his position better and finish stronger. I think Gallo's legs still lack explosion due to being underdeveloped and also not being able to work on his legs all summer. People just have to be a bit patient with Gallo, given that he had the back issues and it's nothing to sneeze at when it comes to regaining your explosion. It takes more than one season to get to full strength off a back surgery of any kind to be honest.

for me briggs, i want sergio starting. he's in the mold of the kind of guy d'antoni has been looking for, let's see how well he does. d'antoni has already stated that ssol will be back and i think he's saying that because he's going to have sergio blazin the ball up the court.

for me, my starting lineup would be:

C-lee
PF-chandler (the position chandler is much more comfortable with overall)
SF-gallo
SG-Tmac
pg-sergio

i think that right there is a pretty good starting lineup. it will be a fun last 29 games.

How is Chandler most comfortable as a PF. His natural position is SF. Move Gallo to the PF position which is the position that Walsh said he was drafting him for on draft day.

wilson is starting at the 4 tonight according to hahn..

I thought Gallo was dubbed our 4? I thought fans said he's bulked up this yr, like 14lbs or so? If Gallo=Dirk how come he doesn't assume the 4 spot?

Then again you can't put any stock in what Hahn says.... although Chandler saw quite a bit of time at the pf spot Pringles first yr.

who cares?

the move is more about chandler being more comfortable and fitting better at the 4 position, which i agree with. his skillset is a shoe-in for a PF in a d'antoni offense.
