we were already out of cap hell... there was no need to go all in on a panic ass move like this & give up all our future assets for the 2 years... for everyone's sake, Lebron & Wade better end up in a Knicks' uniform this summer, that's all i gotta say.

So Jordan Hill and two picks likely in the 20s are our future?

What's so special about this is that even minus Lebron, you can put together a really great tandem.

Would Walsh be dumb enough to trade away a treasure trove of assets just to re-sign David Lee and sign Joe Johnson?

bro no offense, but in this thread you're calling the assets we gave up a treasure trove of assets, & in others you're calling Jordan Hill out as trash & the picks we get as probable late round picks since we're likely going to get Lebron & Wade this summer.

Hold up, you got me twisted up with somebody else. I've shytted on Jordan Hill, of course. But I've never shytted on the draft picks. Potentially giving up two lottery picks, combined with losing our last two is making me pause.

I'm just hoping Walsh knows what he's doing. This is high risk, high reward. We all know this.

No other than Gallo Chandler Curry and Douglas--everyone would need to be renounced for 2 max FA's--were just a little short for the second max but if they buyout for 9.75 they get there.

Or Joe Johnson? Or Chris Bosh? Or Dirk? It isn't just about LeBron & Wade, right?

And if they all fall through, it's all good, because we won't overpay for talent, are patient enough as a franchise & fanbase to rebuild via the 2011 FA class, right?

where do get this "likely in the 20's" assumption from? do you have some insider info on Lebron & Wade's intentions this summer that no one else does? if so, please share it with the rest of the forums.

let's say they are all lottery picks but the lottery picks are channing frye, michael sweetney and jordan hill. would you rather have that frontline or the chance to sign bron and wade.

we're not sacramento. we're new york city. some free agents might want to come play for us.

Wrong. Just look at the responses regarding the trades. A lot of giddiness over an uncompleted process. I've read responses that would curl milk. Now to complete this, we must get a top FA. The way things are shaping up, the pickins' will be slim. I see one max player and maybe what amounts to one or two second tier players, similar to a Gallo or a Chandler. It might get us into the playoffs, but not very far. I hope we can mine some gold in the second round of the drafts.

sorry but after this trade the only FA's i'm willing to settle for this summer are Lebron & either Wade, Bosh or Amare.

For those who think this trade is good--and having us pegged into a top 5 team next year

tell me what successful franchise has maneuvered like this? It's insane--it's not good business--it's a panic move.

Same place you get your "giving up 3 lottery picks" from.

But seriously, the chances of getting shut out in free agency and ending up in the lottery in 2011 and 2012 are slim to none. It's not happening. Quit worrying.

I'm just glad Donnie Walsh doesn't operate with this dooms day paranoia like some of you. If you're scared of failure, stay home. Come strong or don't come at all. There is a chance of failure in almost every scenario. But you have to look at the variables and weigh the possibilities. With room to sign 2 MAX FA's, the chances of getting shut out and ending up in the lottery are almost impossible. Did you guys forget where we play? Did you forget what arena we play in? Did you forget the media? This is not Milwaukee or that dump in Jersey. This is New York. FA's are going to line up to sign here. Trust me.
