Bitty,

I agree with what you say.

Perhaps the problem is as a society we don't all evolve at the same time.

Maybe we throw around "racist" too fast when insted "Stupidity" is more in line with what this clown is about.

I suppose in an interview like Playboy they going to ask questions about dating and he was trying to be funny but it came off wrong. when in doubt, stfu!

ANd if he does not like black women, or is racist he is only relevant because of his music and the sales of it.

An elected official or mass media personality like Imus, or a Larry king were to go on stupid then they represent their comapny, who sells ad space the therefore represents thier sponsers and then its bye bye time. John Mayer sells John Mayer concert tix (my daughter likes him)and albums but if the crowds thin then he has no voice. Most of his fans I doubt care about his politics or his liberal use of the n-word in an article. And if he misplaced a Pakistani as "Kabul" then he can be called out as lazy and stupid unless there was malice intended.

Too much weed made him stupid.

I dont really hear a lot of honky and crackers on records. Certainly not in interviews. You think if a cat like Snoop Dog was calling white people honkey and crackers in an interview, white people wouldnt have something to say about it?

That said, there are very mild double standards, when it comes to language, given the extremely brutality blacks have faced in this country. Lets not act as if whites themselves were enduring what blacks endured before the 1970s. Slavery, Lynching, Jim Crow, housing, job, educational, judicial discrimination...ext.

Given the currency of white privilege in this country, I think you guys have it pretty damn good...LOL.

And before you go on about how things have changed --- yes they have on a superficial level as there are laws in place that protect Blacks. But beneath the surface? Go on youtube and peep any video involving an African-American in any sort of negative light and you will see an immediate flood of racist remarks.

If given the opportunity to be racist, many whites will take that opportunity and run with it. And whites have so much power in this country they can act out that hatred in wide-sweeping ways, namely institutional racism designed to ruin African-American lives.

LMAO... That was some real saliva ol boy was spitting, but we all know this.

Its a trip when white people try to act like the American structure is designed anyway but the promotion of their success and when they try to position themselves as the "aggrieved ones" because of immigrants and the fact they can't call blacks niccas anymore.

explain that sebstar!!! WTF!?!? is this what you do at your black panther meetings? discuss farting on whites?

disclaimer: not trying to belittle anyone's opinions. just trying to add some comic relief. feeling comical today. hope i'm more clever-er than john mayer.

about that N-word. i hate it. don't use it, but, as a dude who drops many rhymes, i'm jealous of my black friends that get to use it. it's just an awesome two syllables that fill up a phrase so nicely sometimes. despite not using it, i still drop awesome rhymes, but yeah that's why i think it's still out there so much. i don't know. haven't done much research. just noticed it especially when dropping freestyles with my boys.

To ask this question is to completely divorce yourself of history and the current reality of race relations in this country. You guys have so much privilege. Does it really hurt you that Blacks can hurl a few more racial insults than you?

Sebstar, no offense, but maybe you are the one divorcing yourself. What us whites did was wrong. However, I think you're 100% wrong when you say stuff like "some whites would run with the chance to be racist when presented with the opportunity" b/c it's the same with any race. All people would act like that, if the chance was there.

And when you say "Does it really hurt if a black person should be allowed to hurl more racist comments", you're really insulting yourself and your own race. When somebody acts racist, they are making themselves look bad, b/c they are the ones that look like the ignorant pricks. So when you stand up for people of your own race who do that, then I honestly don't know what to say to you sebstar. Just b/c we were f'ing ****s (Which we were) doesn't make it right for you to act that. If anything, lower yourself to what our standards were. Be higher than that, and don't make yourself look ignorant.

B/c ignorant is what you're looking like when you say this: "Does it really hurt you that Blacks can hurl a few more racial insults than you?"

nah man - dont get it twisted like that. i'm not implying anything or divorcing myself from anything - just asking the queston. personally, it doesnt hurt me or bother me. i'm sure there's plenty of black-hate songs and artists out there also. your answer is interesting though - are you saying its ok for blanks to reference whites like this (or should be more tolerated) B/C of the history of abuse blacks have suffered from whites?

To answer you immediate question no it isn't right to use racial epithets in any form. But what does this have to do with John Mayer's comments? He wasn't using the term nigger in a song he said it in an interview to a national publication.

I agree with what you say.

You keep equating what JM has said with "stupidity" and granted everyone has said stupid things but than there is stupid racist things. I think that because JM doesn't fit "redneck white sheet wearing type" that you give him a pass on his racists rants and chalk it up to drug use and stupidity. You really didn't get that he was trying to offend that Pakstini comedian when he called him "Kabul" the guy has racial issues and might be full-blown racist, misogynists a-hole.

He doesn't get a pass. What he said was racist. Perhaps Jimi was just playing devils advocate. Either way, Mayer needs to learn a lesson.

What mayer said was stupid and racist.

Hearing the term hood pass is stupid and stupid.

agreed - he doesnt get a pass. btw - i wasnt playing devils advocate - not advocating anything about what mayer said. he probably feels he has the 'right' to say such things b/c he hangs w black entertainers and b/c he does hang with them, then surely he cant be racist right? WRONG. mayer is an idiot and prob a closet racist too.

A lot of people in the music industry sell their soul in order to get a deal and if that means representing themselves and their people with no dignity or respect they will do it. The more offensive, the more outrageous, the better record execs eat that crap up.

No real use getting into this because we have different experiences and viewpoints. But I dont really see how you can get worked up about a slight inconsistency on what is acceptable for people to say, when that is just a mild form of karma stemming from the abuse suffered by Blacks and the huge disadvantages we experience to this day.

Answer this, Bitty:

Bitty, this is a primitive, dog-eat-dog culture. Having more than your neighbor is not only celebrated, its idealized. Accumulating assets is the goal and female conquests are no different.
But lets be real, a lot of women dont respect nice guys and subscribe to the nice guys finish last theory. They want a douchebag, or at least thats what they ultimately respect deep down. Hence, the fascination with bad boys.
Yeah, women will pine for a nice guy once they get played by a bad boy, but they get real bored with a honorable, respectful cat. Sure, there are always exceptions to the rule, but if one starts treating women nice and with respect that woman will more often then not, move on because she will feel like she has conquered you and controlled you.
They will go and bang some guy that you used to be. The guy you were before you got all soft. I've learned lessons like this the hard way and I wont be made a fool of, or love a female ever again outside of my mama and two sisters.
