Can't take people off the dribble unless he has tons of space or defender is on his hip

Can't hit the midrange shot off the dribble

Less than average handles

Can't finish around the rim with finesse or strength

Holds the ball in his hands too long surveying what he wants to do

Loses his focus and get's extremely lazy if he has nothing going offensively

Settles for too many deep perimeter shots

Most of these things I feel he'll be better at next yr and to a good degree our coach has stunted his growth along with the roster he's on.

what 20 minutes of what game were you watching? 9 boards last night, he takes guys off the dribble all the time. He protects the ball. He's thrown down some sickly dunks on guys and you say he doesnt finish strong? He gets his hands on balls for steals and blocks shots. He does everything you mentioned he doesnt do. What he needs to do is do them more often and with more consistency. He is a rookie however and you can say that about pretty much every rookie

Proof reading would help. I used the form of the word consistent.... 5th word in my original post. But this is what happens when your antennas are up a little too north when it comes to Gallo.

So skin tone makes one a hot commodity? Someone tell Adam Morrison.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Nice reality-based post. Be careful. Folks 'round these parts don't take too kindly to realism when it comes to superstar Galinari. Easier to just talk about his long-range shot and ignore the gaping holes in his game.

I completely agree but I think his issues are the result of him playing out of position. Alot of those issues would be minimized by playing him at PF.

want the no.1 3 pt shooter in the league to start posting up? Don't you think if he starts playing in the paint they won't have sg's guard him? Don't you think its better he just shoot OVER them? ANd does it well?

There are not too many 6-10 guys can do what he does.

If he goes in the paint he is not big enough to take the pounding yet.

Why play to your weakness? Play to your strength!

Quentin Richardson lead the league in 3's under D'Antoni too. I'm not impressed.

Playing in the high post doesn't mean he will be banging with anyone either.

It's often a case of not looking at the positives a guy has so early in the game. Gallo has made good progress this year. It's not about what he is right now, so much as the direction he's headed. He and the team knows that he's got to get stronger and work on his midrange and post game. He's gonna be one dangerous guy if he adds those aspects to his game. I'm happy with his game so far. He's a good all around player with good size and overall ability. Will he be a superstar is really up to him and how bad he wants it.

Don't like 99% of NBA teams have athletic SFs? Why is he averaging 15 if its that easy to stop him.

exactly..but this is playa calling himself being "reasonable"... LOL.. And for the record he keeps using caron butler as a measuring stick and that wizards game as some sort of proof.. for the msot part, Mike miller was guarding gallo and caron was on him for that one play, the play in which he tried to knock the ball out of gallo's hand.. what playa in all of his lopsidedness doesn't mention is that gallo drove by butler, found lee , and lee got fouled...

Isn't Caron Butler perennially regarded as a tough, top of the line, versatile defender and generally one of the toughest most physical defenders out there?

sure, I am one of Butlers biggest fans... but what does that have to do with the issue at hand.. playa made it look like gallo could not do anything when guarded by butler and the truth is, butler guarded him like one time that game and when he did, gallo got by him.. so playa is really misrepresenting what really happened...

Can't take people off the dribble unless he has tons of space or defender is on his hip

That pretty much goes for 80% of the players in this league and 98% of guys over 6'10..

Can't hit the midrange shot off the dribble

actually he can.. just hasn't developed a level of consistency, but I won't nitpick that...until he is consistent I will just say he can't for now.

Less than average handles

I dissagree, I think his handles are pretty good.

Can't finish around the rim with finesse or strength

Roy Hibbert dissagrees..

Holds the ball in his hands too long surveying what he wants to do

or maybe, he is wating for his teamates to move, set a pick, etc.... what is too long?

Loses his focus and get's extremely lazy if he has nothing going offensively

I think the fact that he has been rebounding and playing good defense even when he isn't getting shots speaks to the contrary..

Settles for too many deep perimeter shots

not sure I would say he is settling and not doing what dantoni wants him to do in this offense...

Most of these things I feel he'll be better at next yr and to a good degree our coach has stunted his growth along with the roster he's on.

Well Q rich did so shooting 35%..

Gallo is doing so shooting 40%.. that is 5% points higher... Impressive..

This is the guy I thought I was going to see i the league more fluid and loose, this is why I' m delaying the praise of him being a franchise player. He's more of a stiff with age.

MARC BERMAN:
I see someone who maybe injury prone. Oriani added that Gallinari has dealt with some injuries in his young career, but nothing chronic and never related to the back. He had a disloacted ankle once and also a microfracture in his leg before the 2007 Eurobasket tournament -- he was 18 years old -- and Oriani says Gallo's injury "probably cost our national team a shot at the Olympics

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
