Does Danilo Gallanari seem unfocused when it comes to shooting early on in games ?
No not really, he just needs to warm up
Yes, concentration seems to be an issue early on
I really haven't noticed, I will watch from now on
It's not important, as long as he's hot down the stretch in games
We shouldn't discuss this, it isn't that important

he's still very young, this is to be expected... if he's still this inconsistent at age 24-25, then it is something to begin to worry about since we are all hoping he'll grow into a star eventually.

I think it might be physical more than mental. Takes time to loosen up a stiff lower back and legs.

Allan fan, you are sad man this poll is legit ...even if you don't approve

I think that you should spend some time going over a minute by minute analysis of every Knick's performance so we can have an idea of when each player is at his optimum performance level during a game. With this info MDA can have his coaches notify players who are competing during their low performing minutes to cut back on their shooting and therefore decrease the number of missed shots taken during those minutes. During their high performance minutes they are then allowed to shoot at will.

If you don't have the time to do the minute by minute analysis, youcan use blocks of two or three minutes, instead.

Think about it.

...and as I mentioned in another thread- Who cares when a player starts to make his shots, as long as he makes a nice % of them. Maybe he is a streaky shooter at this early point in his career. Maybe he needs to handle the ball more, like he did in Italy. Gallinari may have to work on a few things in terms of setting up for his shot or rushing it, but if he can shoot at 45% while hitting 40+% from the 3, he is an effective player for the team.

I would rather have a guy who makes shots during crunch time, by the way.

The reason I called this a troll poll is because it seems like playa does nothing but get on Gallos and MDAs back and kiss Chandlers ars.

However, to give him credit, Gallo does need to be more consistent throughout the course of the game. He has to be confident in his ball handling ability so he can take himself to the rack. When he plays aggresive like that, he almost always plays well, even if he is missing the 3 point shot.

That is a fair criticism of him. With that said, none of this takes away the fact that the guy can hit clutch shots.

It seems like at times Gallo is trying to do what the gameplan requests far too often. It's rare that he seems to understand that basketball is fluid and if you're open or you have the hot hand - GO FOR IT AND TAKE OVER.

I think this leads to some mistakes on his part and some of his badly missed shots.

I do feel he has a physical problem still with the back and legs but there are also times where he's doing well and he just...well...has a brain fart. Starts to put up a shot but hesitates and then launches it anyway - as if he thought "Wait, I have a better option, NO WAIT IM SUPPOSED TO SHOOT HERE ACCORDING TO COACH!" and then he chucks up a brick.

At least...this is what I see.

MDA has been running more plays for Gallo in the beginning of games to try & get him involved early... hopefully that helps... it's hard when u have Duhon & Lee setting up for P&R's on every possession they tend to phaze Gallo out at times... they need to make a more conscious effort to stay w/him throughout the course of the game, & for his part Gallo needs to be more aggressive looking for the ball, running off screens & just being more active on the floor... too many times i see him content to stand in 1 spot beyond the 3 pt. arc.

thank you. it is clearly a troll poll... clearly!!

but the true test of this troll poll is if gallo comes out the next 5 games on fire , completely shattering this ridiculous theory(using playa's criteria).... playa will then dissapear for about a week...

And if he doesn't start on fire you're still gonna stop drop and roll right ?

Since I made this thread, I guarantee we all will be watching the 1st qtr in the next 5 games very closely.

I hope you watching Playa.. Gallo sure looked good to start the game going 3-5 with a nice 2handed slam. Yeah he's disinterested.

I have to give him his props his head was in the game early on, energy drinks. He should have drank some at halftime though.

not gallo in particular but more about the knicks, when you have 3 days off to prepare for a team on the 2nd night of a back to back playing on the road after the cavs...you should be able to out "energy" them...

why according to some, the game only counts during the first 5 shots.. gallo can go 0-50 from here on out as far that theory is concerned....

The point of the thread was questioning if Gallo's head was in the game early on.

stop twisting the thread title

Wow, the opinions I am reading above: "It doesn't matter how you shoot to start the game", "It doesn't matter what your percentage is if you hit some shots at the end" reflect a very poor understanding of basketball.

How you start a game is just as important as how you finish.

Your overall shooting percentage is a reflection of your consistency, which in turn has a great bearing on your record.

It's okay to love your players but can we live in reality?

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

If we would have played the night before and LA had the 3 days off, so many excuses would have come forth.
