Just going to point out B Scalabrine, T Allen, M Daniels, E House and JR Giddens for Nate Robinson and Eddy Curry works out too.

Wouldn't that be rich.

The same reason why someone wanted Zack Randolph, Crawford, and others who left the Knicks. I'm a die hard Knicks fan but I hope Nate does leave and go to a better team. We are always so quick to throw someone under the bus. Nate will grow in this game and I hope he goes someplace where he is appreciated because I hate to say it but next October we will be sitting without Lee or Nate and no Lebron James.

I agree about Nate being under-appreciated. Its a joke how much shyt he takes around here. I too hope he goes to Boston and rips it up and grabs a chip.

But Jamal and Zach had to go. Individually, guys like Nate, Marbury, Jamal, Zach, ext... were all talented but as a collective they were a mess. It was a bloated roster and we desperately needed cap flexibility and a fresh start. We're playing better than we were with those guys and we have a ton of maneuverability to grab an impact player or two.

We're good. No need for pessimism, but I feel you on Nate. Obviously. The fact that we always ridicule our players doesnt help trade value. We should have gotten more for Randolph. Duke is absolutely killing it in Memphis.

If we had some real options at PG, there'd be no real problem with Nate as a SG off the bench. The problem has been that we need him to be a PG cuz there's no one else. Add to the fact that Duhon can't handle the job either which leads us to giving Nate the job and he hasn't shown he can do it. I really don't want to get rid of Nate. It's not really about Nate, but having Duhon as our only player with close to legit PG skills. DW has to live with the decision not to add a PG just to save some Cap space. Was it worth it? It's hard to say right now, but if we end up squeezing in a good player with the money we saved then yeah it was worth it.

Don't like what the C's have to trade. Don't know how bad they want Nate. Would they take JJ or Curry just to get Nate? Seems that's the only way it would really benefit us.

I'd do the trade if we get rid of Jeffries. Late 2010 1sts eat into our cap space, but if we really wanted a player in the draft, we can always buy a late 1st round pick as there's always a top team looking to avoid the guaranteed contract and luxury tax implications. Giving up Nate for that little will hurt our playoff chances this year. However, if this is the best we can get for Nate by the trade deadline, I'll do it. Better to get a pick than lose him for nothing in the summer.

Nate's BYC status isn't that difficult to overcome since his salary is so small. All we'd need to do is add more salary into the trade (ie. Jeffries, or if they don't want him, Mobley) so that the 125% leeway rule can cover the fact that Nate's contract only counts for 50% on the receiving end.

I truly believe the best place for Nate is in Portland with his buddy Brandon Roy and Portland can use a big body.

Nate/JJ/$3 mil for Outlaw(exp.)/Bayless/Fernandez/and a bottom of the rotation guy like Dunta Cunningham.

By season end you have a starting lineup of

Hill
Lee
Gallo
Chandler
Bayless

Douglas, Rudy, Harrington off the bench.

You now don't have to spend money on a starting caliber PG next year. You added an extra $3 mil of cash to spend in FA. That may be enough to keep Lee, get Lebron, and possibly resign Harrington.

Hill
Lee
Gallo
LBJ
Bayless

Chandler Rudy Douglas Harrington

Also remember we would have an expiring Curry next year.

Curry Chandler Bayless for Chris Paul anyone?

I can't imagine portland trading bayless for another guard. and they'd ened more value for bayless anyhow. bayless is awfully good. he'd be a buddding star if portland didn't have so much guard depth.

we've been down this road before, no?

nate is still byc so he can't be traded to the celtics straight up for any combo of their players because both teams are over the salary cap.

As long as salaries match he can he just has the right of refusal.

He makes $4 mil but his salary only counts as $2 mil in a trade which is why it is improbable but not impossible to trade him.

Do you think you would be hearing rumors of teams being interested if it was against the CBA for him to be traded?

interesting...

i see. so because nate's salary is not so high, the difference between the 125% of 2$ is possible in that particular instance.

however, why on earth would we make such a trade?

i'm open to moving nate, but not for that.

it could also be that the celtics could make a deal for nate involving a 3rd team.

If we could get a #1 from the Celts, maybe we could turn that into Bledsoe.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

How the heck do you have a trade rumor without identifying the players involved. What kind of half-a** reporting is that.

I like Nate Robinson but I like 2010 more. If Boston takes Jared Jeffries and we get an expiring contract or a player with a lower salary in 2010, you have to pull the trigger.

That being said, I don't see a potential trade. Boston just doesn't have enough expiring contracts. I don't see them trading 4 players - Brian Scalabrine, Eddie House, Tony Allen and Shelden Williams - for Robinson and Jeffries. Hmm...maybe if we agree to waive House and Allen?

If we could trade Jeffries along with Nate, I'd take the straight up cap relief.

Jeffries/Nate
for
Scalbrine, Giddens, Daniels and House and their first rounder

We'd probably end up cutting 3 of those guys so the Celtics can just sign them back after 30 days.

Nate goes with JJ or no deal. Unless the C's want to include Ray in the discussion

I don't particularly find it appealing to aid a team (should we make the postseason) we could be facing in the first round.

we wouldn't be facing them in the first round if we traded nate and jeffries.

this is an interesting question donnie will have to weigh - what's more important for the free agency this summer? having $7M more in cap room or making the playoffs. big question donnie will have to answer over the next month before the deadline. i guess it might come down to whether we have a shot at the playoffs come the deadline.

I'm stealing this from Realgm, but someone brought up the Idea of Nate and Curry for Ray Allen with the agreement that we would buy Ray Allen out. Allen could then resign back for the vets minimum or something.

I think thats the best Idea I have heard if its legal.

So Boston is going to help stengthen us by giving us more cap space?
