It was same profanation stuff in Soviet Union.
All pro athlets were considered "workers" doing sport at free time. LOL.
It is all about money and money is what politics is.
And if government will start interfere more and more; here we go - US will became an Empair, as Romans and Soviet Union was.

I always agreed with the age limit thing, or at least supported the NBA on it. Every single company in the US has a right to determine qualifications of their employees in order for their product to improve. This includes age limit, school experience or work experience. If the NBA feels that if players will have a better time developing in either college or Europe, then thats their determination... I happen to agree with it. The quality of basketball got to such a low point, because I feel there were so many players coming in with very little experience. Jamal Crawford comes to mind. Do you think he would be getting much playing time 15, 20 years ago when the NBA quality was at an all time high? NO!

To be honest, I still think the age limit should be 20. Either get paid in Europe for A couple of years or be one of the lucky ones and get a free ride in the NCAA.

not say I agree with the age-limit, but I agree with allafan on the idea that any business in america can determine what they want from prospective employees. if the nba wants their players to be older then that's their choice and they have every right to do so. i like the age limit, because also as allanfan said, the quality of player that came into the nba got so low that it was bringing down the overall quality of the nba. as a consumer, i like it better when kids come into the league more prepared and know how to play a better brand of basketball than when they just came out of high school.

WE should change the system because of John wall or perhaps 3 players a year?

Jenning is showing every nite he not physically ready for prime time. There are talented kids in high school today that can "hang" on the court but not for 82 games, be away from home, and take the grind of travel and injury.

I too think it should age 20, but let the NBA draft and obtain their right and pay them, and if they want to pay them to play d-league, Europe or pay for their school and have Coach K train them then so be it.

ITs like any vocational school. Then in the summer they can play summer league.

LIke I said, how many kids is this really affecting? What about the schools who build their own arenas with their own money, or set aside tickets for students for about nothing? What about they paying for their coaches to build these programs. Players can choose what school they want to go to and if they want can choose to play or not play.

It is not a god given right that they play basketball or have to matriculate at all. If they are that good they can play overseas.

Let the market dictate supply and demand.

Universities that are quasi-private (which most are in the US) are still governed by standards set forth by the State and Federal government. Meaning that if they receive any government funds that would require a yellowbook audit are considered quasi-private. That is why they could be subject to matters of quota, funding restrictions, etc. Keep in mind that if students are receiving federal (i.e. Pell grants) and state grants to attend such universities then the university still must adhere to those standards. Yellowbook test are done every year to determine a school's status.
