the we have to choose between keeping Lee or getting a real PG

I like Schyer and Dyson with our picks if we go guards then Harris and Lin as secondary choices

I think you might be right bro -- at least in the sense of going after a good, premier-type PG. But what do we do in the meantime? How do you sell next year to LeBron? By telling him, hey listen man, you might have to come in here and run the whole show in year 1 all by yourself and not even give the guy an adequate PG to go to war with? Nah... I wouldn't want to explain that to him. Sure I want to make sure he understands that there's another $17-18 million coming off the books in 2011 but in the meantime, we need to at least find a way to put a capable PG on the floor with him to alleviate some pressure and responsibility. And that someone needs to be better than Chris Duhon IMHO..

I like it. I could see that. I personally like Collins/Vasquez a little more myself as a 2nd round combo (though I have my doubts whether or not Collins will even be there when we pick if we stand pat) but I'd be happy with either Scheyer/Dyson, Harris/Lin or any combination of the four. Just saw Harris again over the weekend -- Michigan lost at home to Northwestern but Harris played well...

Either management is too incompetent to turn a profit or New Orleans just can't support an NBA team but the Hornets have been making moves to save $, not to bring Chris Paul closer to contending for a ring.

From what I've read about Paul, dude is INTENSE on the court and I would guess that the losing eats him up and that management focusing on saving $ and not paying the tax vs. getting him some help (Devin Brown as his 2 guard, really??!) eats him up even more. He is wasting his prime.

If that happens and NO is just looking for salary cap relief while they figure out what the hell they're doing..maybe some expirings/draft picks would do it. Chris Paul might be one of the only players worth giving up expirings and draft picks for. (Isn't the point of having cap space and draft picks to find someone like him anyway?)

If all that fails he has a player option after the 2012-2013 season. Hopefully DW doesn't blow his load and give 2nd tier FAs 7 year $200 million dollar contracts and we have a chance to land him.

My unrealistic Chris Paul dreams aside, I doubt we land a quality PG AND Lebron AND Lee. I'll take Lebron and Lee and wait for next 2011 summer to go get a playmaker.

Question for you TMS:

If you have a player like Lebron..who is the ideal type of player to put next to him anyway?

I think it's a really hard question to answer because he could theoretically score in the post if he wants to and eliminate the need for a traditional PF. He can handle the rock and set up his teammates and eliminate the need for a traditional floor general. He obviously can be a super dominant SG or SF. He doesn't necessarily need a back to the basket center to throw the ball into.

I think it's gotta be someone who doesn't need the ball to be effective (ex: MARCUS CAMBY, Shawn Marion, Udonis Haslem). Guys who can clean up the boards, finish around the rim off putbacks, hit the open jumper.

or

Someone who's a good enough orchestrator to allow Lebron to play off the ball so he doesn't spend so much energy bringing the ball up the floor and setting up the offense.

if i have a player like Lebron, i think a PG who can knock down big shots, penetrate & play ballhawking defense on the perimeter along w/a rebounding, shotblocking bigman in the paint who can also help spread the defense w/perimeter shooting ability & open up the lane for Lebron & the PG to penetrate are the ideal types to have next to him... if i had my pick of guys currently playing in the NBA to fit those 2 roles to a tee, i'd go with someone like Chauncey Billups at the PG & someone like Rasheed Wallace in the frontcourt.

i think TD could do a solid job at the PG playing next to Lebron cuz he plays the sorta game i'm talking about... i also think Jordan Hill could work very well w/Lebron as well cuz he can hit those midrange J's & he's mobile enough to run the break alongside Lebron.

I think Randy Foye is the perfect guard to pair up with Lebron. He's a combo guard in the Mo Williams category, but bigger. Problem with Foye is, no that Gil is out, Foye will put up pretty good numbers and his asking price may be a bit high for us.

I have a horrible feeling Mike D'Antoni will want to re-sign Chris Duhon.

Thankfully, he doesn't get the final call on that.

But really, I see Duhon back next year. As a back-up, hopefully. He is the only point that has two years of MDA under his belt. He'll be back, but hopefully as a back up.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

if the Knicks nab LeBron, I see them making a vet min offer to Duhon.

agree, Foye would be a nice fit next to Lebron, but we won't be able to afford him & still sign another impact FA to play alongside Lebron in the process... i don't see us letting Lee walk or passing on someone like Bosh so we can sign Randy Foye.

Duhon will cost more than a vet min offer.

Jeremy Lin just got a mention in the latest SLAM magazine.

Section: Picture Me Ballin'

Under the Radar Players who demand your attention:

Lin, a 6-3 senior floor general, proved both Ivy Leaguers and Asian-Americans can ball with his clutch performances in upsets of local rival Boston College the past two years, as well as his 30 point game in a narrow recent loss to UConn. Averagin 18.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 4,6 apg, 2.1 spg and 1.2 bpg to fuel the Crimon's best start in 25 years, he's alsow showing his stellar high school career at Palo Alto (CA) High (inculding a state championship over national power Mater Dei; he was considered the top player in the Bay Area as a senior , yet Harvard was the only Division I school to seriously recruit him) was no fluke.

question is if the kid is worth a 2nd round flyer. take him in a heartbeat if he's undrafted. maybe he can marcus landry his way onto a squad.

the dream is if we find a Manu or Tony Parker late like San Antonio.

was reading something on the D-league. well run teams like San Antonio, Houston, and Oklahoma were mentioned as teams that have their D-league affiliates run the same plays as them so players have a chance at being useful if they get called up..
wonder if the Knicks are doing the same.

would love to bring him in on a SL invite if he's available... wouldn't mind taking a 2nd round flyer on him either... also like Nic Wise... we definitely need an upgrade at PG either way.

Ill tell you another guy who is having a great season is Scottie Reynolds---the problem is we are likely picking so far back with both picks---it will be impossible to gauge 1-2 guys but rather you want a guy who can make the team from ANY position--and it will be difficult to see what is what until you are actually picking--we are used to having a 1 pick--usually in the top 10 the last few years--I would imagine that one pick will be a European prospect--maybe depends on what is where and who is who when we are picking--I just dont see us high enough to catch a falling star. Maybe we can bundle the picks with some cash to move up-who knows but I think no matter what we do---the Knicks replacements PG{i mean the guy who runs the show next year] for the NEAR term is NOt coming from picks 46 and 56 --we might get a PG and heck we might get 2 who the heck knows.--------------->How do we upgrade our PG for 2010-2011? I think we stay veteran and try to trade for one or use the LLE. Forget Branden Jennings--I think we missed the boat on Ty Lawson--that was probably the guy we should have keyed on once curry rubio and evans were gone for the Knicks style of play. I kept reading how the Knicks did not want a small G and we already had Nate but I think T Lawson will prove to be a worthy top pick in terms of quality efficient PG play. He might not score 55 but I think he can run a club and win effectively. I think he would be starting here by now.
