Damp's contract is uber-valuable. His contract is similar to Nick Van Exel's in that you can trade for him in the offseason, and then his contract comes off the books. So trading for the cap space will not jeopardize the playoff push.

I think JJ + Chandler + Hill is too steep. But I would be inclined to make a similar trade, like JJ + Hill for Damp's corpse. Or JJ + Chandler for Damp's Corpse + Beaubois

Future Draft Pick(s?)

Waiting until the offseason allows both the Knicks and the Mavericks to maintain team chemistry for their respective playoff pushes. Plus Dallas can: use JJ for big man depth, replace Josh Howard w Chandler, and develop Hill to spell Dirk. Before anyone gets mad at the idea of trading for Dampier, they should note that he would never play a game for the Knicks. This move is all about clearing contracts and this would clear roughly $10-11 million. Yea, it is a lot of talent to give up, but we need cap space for Lebron + Sidekick + Lee. Thoughts?

Sure, here is the counter offer
Jeffries, Nate + 3 million cash and 2nd rounder in 2010
For
Demps and Beaubois

If the Mavs threw in Beaubios, I would give them a 2nd Round Pick, $3 mill, Jeffries, and Nate for Damp and Beaubios. That is the most I would give up.
