yeah, but we'll be hopelessly capped out by then anyway, with hopefully lebron making $20M+, dlee making something like $14M, wilson and gallo hopefully extended to large deals... we'll be waaaaaay over the cap by then.

and jeffries might actually be a guy you want to keep around as a glue guy - bowen-type - on a contending team.

d'antoni's use of jeffries reminds me of what he said when he was asked about how well tim thomas was playing for him: "for so long coaches have focused on what tim can't do well, i just focus on what he can do well." same thing with jeff.

if u wanna extend FL u can do so after next season when the cap concerns are no longer an issue... u can use part of the MLE to extend him... u should still trade him this year if the opportunity presents itself, it's a no brainer.

I will only say it once but I find the fishlips thing bothersome and tiresome. Dude's got a massive set of lips. I get it. Its a physical trait, not something he chose. Its not a tatoo or a behavior. Add to it that JJ is one of the hardworking good guys in the NBA. A couple times is one thing, but the fact that you reference fishlips in every post for a guy that posts 50x a day just makes you sound like an *******.

Anyway.. this post really just comes down to two things: 1) paying $7mm for a role player is going to screw up our 2010 cap bigtime and 2) he's a valuable player to what we do and worth keeping, especially if it can be done in a fashion that fits within our cap needs.

On the other hand JJ is performing well and has become a defensive asset. The only question mark on him right now is the 2010 $$$ he will command. Check the stats, read the posts, then summarize what people are saying.

Next offseason is when the big rebuild happens.

JJ is a good player and if we are bringing back a core of Lee, Chandler, Gallo and adding a guy like Lebron we dont need JJ to do anything but what he is doing now.
