If they were tired, why were they able to turn up the defense and intensity in the fourth quarter. To me this was part of that infection that is so hard to get rid of. They won a big game the night before and played nearly flawless. They rested on their laurels and came out flat during a game where they really needed to turn up the heat and put their foot on someone's throat. Harrington played 24 minutes and should have been fresh
Jeffries was in foul trouble and only played 23
Outside of D.Lee all the guys played between 34 and 38 minutes. D.Lee played 42 minutes and came back and played well again last night. He didn't use the tired excuse. Other teams have guys that play those minutes and come back on the 2nd of back to back and play well. We don't. We still use the tired excuse. We came out flat. Not tired. We thought it would be an easy game and the infection stuck us in the asse again
D Lee got tired down the stretch, even Clyde noticed it... Gallo had no legs & his shot was way off... Al was the only one providing much offense in the stretch run of the 4th quarter.
My point is that there are plenty of guys that play 38 one night and come back and play a full game the next night. If young guys like Gallo(played 36) and Duhon(34) and Wilson(38) can't come back on the 2nd night of back to backs then we may as well mail the back to backs in from here on out. If guys like Hughes and Douglas and Bender can't come off the bench and spell minutes then we may as well mail it in. How did Ewing ever do it?
Ewing is a HOFer, an alltime top 50 player of alltime... part of the reason why he was so great was his ability to be so consistent over his HOF career... u can't hold our guys to that type of standard... guys like Duhon showed last year that they'd break down w/such a huge minute load... one of MDA's stated goals this year was to REDUCE the amount of minutes Duhon would play, which is why he re-signed Nate & drafted Toney Douglas to begin with... neither one of those guys are seeing any playing time now... by now i think it's obvious what MDA says doesn't mean a thing... he'll say whatever he wants to say & do the complete opposite.
You don't have to be a hall of famer to avoid coming out flat against a team that is 2-29. Again TMS we did not fall about in the 4th. We fell apart in the first and 2nd.
Duhon is playing 35 minutes a night. Pretty typical for a starting PG. How can he use the tired excuse?
Gallo has been at 31 for the year. One night he plays 38 and the next he is "exhausted"
Chandler is 17 years old and should be full of energy on the 2nd night of back to backs
Jeffries only played 23 minutes in night 2 so he better not have been tired
Harrington only played 24 minutes night one
Lee is the only one that can remotely use the excuse of being tired
The rest of the guys played minimal minutes night one and Hughes, Bender and Douglas did not step up.
Currently here are the numbers for the core guys in the rotation
David Lee-36 minutes per game
Duhon-35 minutes per game
Wilson Chandler-34 minutes per game
Al Harrington-32 minutes per game
Gallo-31 minutes per game
Jeffries-24 minutes per game
David Lee our leading minutes guy is 34th in the league in minutes. Nobody on this team is playing heavy minutes. This notion that the rotation is too short or that guys are being run into the ground is a falsehood. It's a luxury to have someone else step up and taek more minutes so that Duhon and Lee could rest a bit more, but it is not a necessity
