With the way Don (Chaney) wants to play, we want to give him the luxury of having different guys that can play a different tempo,'' Thomas said. ``As we continue to shuffle and retool our roster, at some point in time we may have an overload at one spot.''

When upper management to coaching are in such agreement the results are soooooo satisfying

So how do the Knicks keep their four-game winning streak going and the suddenly potent production rising when the team is blanketed by volatility and insecurity?

Chaney said it was difficult when players were moving on and off the roster, something that has occurred with frequency in the week and a half since Isiah Thomas became president of basketball operations.

"It's a distraction," Chaney said. "My big thing is a hundred percent concentration on the game."

Because of the roster moves of the past week, Chaney likened the Knicks' situation to training camp.

"It's hard to maintain stability under these circumstances, but it's a necessity," he said. "I mean, we're trying to improve the team. So it's almost a Catch-22."

This just (MIGHT) be a factor in up coming games.

I dont usually chime in to these things... But I will anyway.
Playa, Im sorry, Im all for cheering on the Knicks but this roster still has alot of tweeking before they are really competative. Bottom line is they played 3 crap teams, .500 is still a ways away.

and Chaney is a terrible, I mean terrible coach. Of course zeke is going to say he supposts Chaney but believe me zeke is getting the players HE WANTS because hes gonna coach this team.

As for JVG vs Chaney, anyone who really believes chaney is a a better coach than JVG just doesnt know alot about Basketball. These players are responding to Zeke, not Chaney. Bottom line is they know the threat is real now and besides they most likely will have to deal with them as a coach so better cut the crap.

I agree, but if they keep winning, why would Zeke scrap Chaney.

Chaney's a likeable guy. I root for him. He's made some bad substitutions this year that may have cost a game or 2, but I'm not convinced he's a lousy coach. (Damning w/ faint praise, I know).

But it sure was stupid for him to say the current instability is making life tough on the Knicks. Zeke's trying to make the team better. He's pushing hard for some trades. 4 wins in a row or not, we clearly need to shuffle the lineup a bit. It's obvious we're way too heavy on PG's and PF's, too old, not athletic enough, etc., etc. So why is Chaney complaining? Sure isn't going to endear him to his new boss. To make trades nowadays, you've got to endure rumors in the press. No avoiding it.

Chaney should lead the team through the uncertainty. Downplay it. Not act as though he wants to reserve the right to use it as an excuse if we lose some games we should've won.

Chaney is an awful coach. Thomas basically forced him to play Williams. He also forced him to play Van Horn more. Remember Chaney actually benched Van Horn in the 4th 2 games straight. Now Chaney continues to undermine Thomas's efforts. First he refuses to admit that the Spree situation wasn’t handled properly. Now he is complaining about personnel moves. He is a shrewd corporate politician hiding behind his nice guy mask looking to destroy the gm's he works under. Layden was bad, but how Chaney, his hire, has survived him is a great mystery. The amount of brownnosing he must do for Dolan is remarkable. Chaney is a cancer that has been eating away at the Knicks identity for years now, he is the reason we are a soft team, now Thomas is trying to fix it, and Chaney is in the way. He will be gone in the off-season for one of Thomas's men, mark my words. And that will be a day that will equal the firing of Laydumb in brightness in the Knicks history.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
