This is called trying to maintain minimal trade value. More of a backhanded insult. Had to group Al and Will in there because those are two guys he has been really leaning on to get better. At the beginning of the season, he was touting Will and Gallo as centerpieces and slowly but surely Will is being pushed to the back burner and being replaced with Lee.
I have a feeling Lee will be back, Will is so so now because he was being touted as a PF by Pringles and is still the same inconsistent tweener with no jumper or range minus that explosiveness that made everyone think he would be special at one point.
Pringles is building this team around Lee(his new version of Marion) and Gallo(a guy he is slowly building up to go to guy status).
Wilson is being pushed back? His minutes in December are up 5 per game compared with November. His shooting is up almost 5% as well. His points are up to 16.5 from 11.5! That is huge. He is CLEARLY more explosive in December, as his ankle is back near 100%. I don't care if Wilson can't shoot the long ball great, he doesn't need to. If he focuses on his mid game and driving the ball he is a very very good player. And don't forget his great defense.
So, how do you see Wilson being pushed back and getting replaced by Lee? It seems pretty clear that Wilson, Lee and Gallo are the future in D'Antoni's eyes.
I think Hughes and Harrington's roles are the ones that will be decreasing. When they are on they help us but they can't be relied upon game after game to take over (really Al here).
