"Give them Hill, Curry and Mobley."

MS - According to Chris Broussard, of ESPN and formerly of the NYTimes as excellent Knicks writer, the Houston Rockets want All Star talent in return for McGrady. Whether that talent is established or projected to be an all star upon maturing, they do not want dreck.

which all stars do you propose the Knicks, or any other team, give up for TMac?

Anyone who has any objections to this deal is not a Knick fan. And please don't say we don't need to give up anything for Tracey, because we are clearing 14 million in cap room. This is a great trade for both teams. Hill doesn't play and it allows us to sign two max free agents. It gives them cost savings of almost 9 million to offset what they pay to Eddy

I agree 100%.

We could probably get them a pick as well. There are a lot of cash strapped teams out there. Doesnt Memphis (losing $$$) have 3 first rounders? Offer one of these teams $3mm to route their pick to Hou if that helps. I think Jordan Hill has a good future in the NBA but this is a price you pay.

Richard Jefferson was acquired for expiring garbage
Vince Carter was acquired for an expiring and young guy

McGrady's value is in his cap relief for a team looking to drop salary. Did the Knicks take back salary for Marbury? Nope, So why do we expect Houston to bend over for us?

The Rockets aren't getting an All-Star for McGrady. His contract isn't paid by insurance and he isn't an elite or allstar player regardless of what the Chinese fans say (Starting All-Star again this year)

They can wish and ask all they want. The Kings aren't giving them Kevin Martin and unless they want Redds contract they are lucky to get a lottery pick to add to Brooks and Ariza.

Chandler/Douglas/Curry/Mobley if they want I would even throw throw Toney/Hill together to get it done. They replace Lowry's toughness at the end of the season on the cheap and get a young big....

Can someone name a better realistic package out there

MS... the first one was better. Dont see why we need to include Chandler and Douglas. They can have one of the following to go w/ Curry/Mobley:
1)Chandler
2)Hill
3)Douglas
4)Nate
5)Harrington (instead of Mobley)
6)JJ (instead in of Curry)

MS - Daryl Morey wants David Lee, Chandler AND Danilo Gallinari. You still want McGrady that bad?

Here is who Walsh is dealing with in Houston.

"Daryl Morey, who became the Rockets general manager last May, is fairly guarded about the models he uses — understandable in a sport in which the science is still being developed. Basketball as a sport has not yet settled on more sophisticated ways for assessing a player, as baseball eventually did with statistics like on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

But the search is on for something more meaningful than points per game. Morey and others in his field are filling hard drives with information, categorizing player types, shot selection, substitution patterns, the result of every pass and the success rate of the transition 3-point attempt (which, statistically speaking, happens to be a good shot).

“We track everything imaginable,” Morey said. “Each pick-and-roll, what’s the result of it? Each guy on the floor, how efficient they are. A lot of it, we end up not using. But we track it so that we have it available in case the question comes up where it becomes relevant.”

.... please consider who the Rockets want from the Knicks in return for McGrady.

You forget they can just let him expire and drop 23 million off their cap. If Yao opts out thats another 17 million off their cap.

Just like for the Knicks cap space is worth more than short term success for the Rockets.

Yao is not opting out and leaving 17million on the table.

Yao is not leaving 17 million on the table especially coming off an injury.

I don't care what this guy says. He is not getting an elite player or anything of note. Big Z is the best center they can trade for because he has an expiring.

McGrady is a high maintence player that is finished.

Any package that doesn't include Lee/Gallo is fine by me. Douglas is easily replaced if we are going for Lebron we don't need chandler so if they want that package and we keep hill that's a win/win. As is Chanlder off the bench behind Lebron. Whatever combination clears room has to be done. Unfortunately Mike is making it very tough to move Eddy.

If they want Chandler, they've got to take one of our contracts, tho.

We don't trade unless we are dumping a contract. We're not looking at TMac as a contributor on our team, just an expiring. What sense would it make to add him and lose talent without dumping one of our two albatross deals?
