O RLY!?

You clearly missed the point of that post. What I'm trying to say is how many teams 11th man has had a season where he averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds? I can't think of any. Obviously a starting lineup of Kobe, Odom, Gasol, Bynum, Artest is going to beat any team's starting lineup but probably have a weak bench. The Celtics bench was exposed the last 2 seasons and it showed how important having a deep talented team is. What if we sign Bosh and Lebron and one of them go down with an injury or they do not perform well (a la elton brand)? Who's going to step in? If we sign two max players we are realistically going to choose one player out of Lee, Big Al, Hughes, Duhon, and Jeffries.

We invested a high lottery pick in Gallo and Hill hoping that one of them will develop into superstars. At this point it looks like Gallo is our only hope, but we should still stick with our guns instead of signing Bosh and having a team consisting of Lebron, Bosh, Gallo, Chandler, and a bunch of nobodies.

Basically I think we would be better off just letting Lebron do his thing by himself and surround him with good players who fit the system and can work off Lebron's game (Gallo and Lee are perfect examples). Lebron is good enough to do it by himself on the offensive end, all he needs are some shooters and a good defense. I think the core of Gallo/Lee/Chandler/Harrington/Hughes/Douglas/Hill/Jeffries is the perfect compliment to LBJ's game.

Are you talking about eddy curry? I don't think I missed the point.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Lee as a sixth man interesting. He is going to have a very good shot at making the olympic team over the summer. I would guess he will be one of the 25 that is picked to go.

If a non-Knicks fan comes by, I feel embarrassed for this forum. Please, excuse our bright eyed optimists but we're not all like that.

1. How do you expect to sign Lebron and all of the players on the current roster?
2. The top ELEVEN doesn't matter. We need superstars in the top FIVE. Name me a championship team that won because of its ELEVENTH player.
3. How can you possibly say the current players have earned it when we don't even have a .500 record?

You have to try to see the dramatic possibilities. (sound of a lone trumpet) A rag-tag team of misfit ball players, unloved and unwanted around the league, living on borrowed time and playing out a meaningless season suddenly hits on a winning formula and goes on an historic win streak and wins the championship. Along the way, everyone learns important lessons about love, loyalty, and trusting one another. (Cue the string section.)

I totally agree with you. Considering D'antoni only plays the top 7 or 8 men, players 9, 10, and 11 are a little less important. I don't understand the "how many 11th men have averaged 19 and 7 at some point in their career"? Besides being a statistic that would take countless hours to prove nothing, a simpler question is how many NBA players missed last season because of poor conditioning? Of those players, how many cost more than $11M? No offense to Curry but 19 and 7 a few years back proves nothing. In this NBA, you earn your keep every year. I hope the best for him, but so far he has earned nothing.

If these guys have done anything, it has given me more hope in the D'antoni system and this rebuilding plan. That said, nobody has earned a roster spot next year. Nobody. Gotta earn it.

You know I gonna spin wit it

i keep repeating the same but seems like it's a concept that consistently escapes some of the members of this forum... you almost always need a pair of superstar players to win a championship... it's been proven time & time again in NBA history... team depth is important but it's much more preferable to have 2 stud players with 5 or 6 quality supporting role players complementing them than 1 go to guy & 10 role players around him... the Lakers didn't win their championship last year because they had guys like Jordan Farmar & Luke Walton on the bench.

The '04 Pistons are the exception but you could say it was more Shaq and Kobe's infighting and purposely frezzing each other out as well as Gary Payton being REALLY old in that series that helped Detroit win.

even the Pistons had Billups & Hamilton who together made up 1 of the best backcourts in the game, & Rasheed, Prince & Big Ben made up probably the best defensive frontcourt in the game during their run as well... they had some valuable role players like Lindsey Hunter sure, but u need those big name guys to win in this game... otherwise you're just another Lebron on the Cavs or Dwight Howard on the Magic with not enough talent around them to get them over the hump, cuz there's always a team like the Lakers, Celtics or Spurs that's just a notch better because they have that 2nd stud go to guy that can help to carry the load... we need to do whatever we can to make sure we have at least 2 stud go to players on this team, or else we're just gonna be another also ran team that won't get over the hump (see Patrick Ewing & the '94 Knicks)
