Sounds like a lot but your gonna need that scratch. Harrington for $6mm, then cap holds will take up close to the rest. Dont see how Bosh could fit in there.

Thoughts?

Fish, I like this lineup the best out of all that were mentioned. I also wouldn't mind resigning Harrington to a decent deal ($6-$7 mil). Hill and Harrington off the bench, all you really need to do is sign an Eddie House-type of player to a 2-3 mil contract who can play spot minutes at the 1 and the 2 and you have a great thing going, IMO.

I'm not a big Ok4 guy. I cant believe anyone would prefer Ok4 to Bosh especially in this system--I don't think it's comparable. On top of that Bosh is an actual FA. Bosh is long enough to give us what we need on defense yet so much more skilled than Ok4 or pretty much most any big player in the nBA. He's a top player. I'm a little surprised that people cannot se just how good that team would be--basically Im replacing Jefferies and Hughes with James and Bosh--retaining Lee Duhon and Big Al.
It would take getting rid of Curry Jefferies and Hill but if I didn't believe we had the ability to do that--I wouldnt post it. I like the draft as much as anyone but I also understand that draft picks are an asset to help make the team better---getting rid of Curry by using two 1's is a smart move. Of COURSE I would like to just get rid of him the old fashion way but I don't see it. We wouldve to pay up to get rid of him.

I think that Duhon is inconsistent. I think the perfect type of PG next to Lebron is Mo Williams. Someone who can score and be effective w/o the ball who can play defense. I think Toney fits the bill also. Duhon needs the ball in his hands. I really don't think he is a good fit next to LeBron.

OK4 is a player who doesn't need the ball. He is a rebounder and an interior force who doesn't crave the ball or plays run for him.

Personally, I am not a fan of Bosh at all. Never liked him. He seems to always be injured and I think Gallo can fit the bill of what Bosh does.

Put Lee and OK4 with Gallo. Put LeBron and Toney at the guards, unless you can sign a tweener PG/SG to start next to LBJ.

I target OK4 because he fits a profile. He's got a very bad contract on a non contending or cheap team. He's a guy you go for AFTER you have signed all your big $$$ guys. Say the Knicks do sign Lebron and extend Lee. You out of resources so you have to get creative. Rather than losing future draft picks you can look at $$$ deals. OK4 is owed like $50mm something after the season. Curry may be crap but offering Eddy's expiring contract and maybe someone like Jordon Hill might have a lot of appeal. He can guard the post and bang and block shots and thats what you need. SIZE. He's a role player with Lebron, Lee and Gallo being your skill guys. He's your Ben Wallace. Dig?

Your just dont on him cause he went to a lousy school

The difference between him getting it and him deserving it is a gap the size of the Grand Canyon.

I understand that the Grand Canyon was made by a river over millions of years.

But Bosh has not been alive for millions of years.

If Bosh gets max money, Lee can get 15m, no? What exactly is the biggest difference between Bosh and Lee??

That is the scary part with Lee. We have the extra year to pay him--I have to think that the offer is going to have be 6 years 60mm[we can backload it] to be comparable to potential 5 yrs 55 mm or gasp 5 yrs 60mm. I think he would stay --I think he likes NY if we give him a fair offer of 6 yrs 60mm--I hope. If we started LOSING guys like Lee and Harrington and Lebron stalled and then stayed in Clev--that would not be good. That is why I think we have to get rid of Curry Jefferies and if they ARE NOT going to look at him--possibly even Hill.

Trade Eddy Curry and two future 1 in 2012+2014--someone will do that.

Bundle Nate Hill and Jefferies for expirings and future pick

That gives us roughly 48mm in cap space+ we can get this done.

Doubt we're gonna sign Lee and Harrington.

If you have Bosh and Hill, what's the point of going big $ for Lee?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

aside from the ability to knock down a 3, take his man off the dribble, block a shot, defend his position, attract other bigname FA's to his team, rebound & score better, they're pretty much the same player.

dude, Bosh is 6 for 13 from 3 pt range this season, that's 46% shooting... he doesn't take a whole lotta 3's but he can hit them if he has to, he has that type of range.

& i'll take Bosh's 1 bpg over D Lee's 0.3 every day & twice on Sunday

"nowhere near the rebounder"? are u kidding me? he's averaging more rebounds than Lee is this year... stop being dense.

So, assume a $55M cap. Assume every player is tradeable, but expirings (JJ, Curry) have to take back future salary. I would deconstruct this team and build from the ground up. Assume you need 8 "players" and you will meet the requisite 10 player roster for salary cap purposes using the 2 second round draft picks (S.5M each). Once over the cap, you can sign veterans to the veteran's minimum despite cap restrictions. Let's assume this will add depth, not rotation players though.

The next consideration is that players must fit in the Knicks offensive and defensive set. Offensively, players must be able to hit the open 18 footer, have high level passing skills and be able to run the floor above average. Defensively, the goal is to have players 6'8 or taller at each position so that players can switch off of picks rather than fighting through them.

Lee, Nate, Harrington or Duhon in a deal that brings back a rookie scale contract and/or draft picks. These guys will need to be non-tendered to remove their cap holds. Assume we have to let these guys walk. Get over the emotions of it, assume it is necessary to start with a clean slate.

First, sign Lebron for $17M. In this offense he really runs the Point Forward position. Keep in mind that another player may be responsible for bringing the ball up the court. This makes the PG less important on the offensive level and more important on the defensive level.

Second, trade Toronto Gallo, Chandler and Curry for Bosh at $17M. They are likely to lose him anyway and this way they get back some real talent. Fill in the rest with a top 5 protected 1st rd pick if necessary to get this done. Add two picks if necessary, but get it done. Now, you have Batman and Robin but you only have $20 to fill 6 more rotation spots.

Third, offer Hughes $2M per year for 2 years. Its likely to be a tough market for him with so many FAs out there. He will be the SG. If that doesn't work, I think Raja Bell is the next choice with the same offer. $18M left for 5 players.

Fourth, here you have to hope that Hill can develop into a viable C. Like Kendrick Perkins in Boston, you are not looking for a top 20 center, just a viable player. In any event, I think he does that. So, after his $3.5M we have $14.5M left to fill 4 more rotation spots.

Fifth, I think you have to keep Jared Jeffries cause it is too hard to move his contract. Let's placehold his $6.9M salary and use the remaining $7.6M on 3 players.

Sixth, at PG, I am looking at Javaris Crittendon. I'd offer $3m per to see if wants to run with this squad. Let's assume he takes it. $4.6M left. on 2 players

Seventh, backing up Crittendon is Douglas at $1.2M. I'd like to move Douglas for a taller player, but let's assume we keep him, (or at least the salaries will have to match. We have $3.4M left.

Eighth, I'd offer the $3.4M to Hakeem Warrick or Jarvis Hayes. Whoever accepts first gets the contract.

Now, offer the vet's min to up to 5 guys who want to win, like Bender, Tim Thomas etc...

PG Crittendon 6'5/Douglas 6'1
SG Hughes 6'5/Douglas 6'1
SF Lebron 6'8/Warrick 6'9
PF Bosh 6'11/Warrick 6'9
C Hill 6'11/Jeffries 6'10

I think that's a championship squad.

You know I gonna spin wit it

i doubt any trades w/a division rival will be happening anytime soon, especially for their franchise stud player... if Bosh gets traded my personal guess is he'll likely be headed to Miami, Chicago or some Western Conference team like the Blazers cuz they all have a good NBA market & some very good young talent to give back to TOR & won't be competing w/them directly within their division.

i agree w/u on Crittenton & Hughes, i've suggested those guys in other threads myself... both guys have the versatility & size in the backcourt that i would like to see, & also agree on Bell as a suitable backup option if u can't get Hughes to sign a reasonable contract... personally i think Hughes at midlevel dollars is reasonable tho... no way can u get him for $2M per.

Yeah, i was thinking about that too. I guess we have to package something to get rid of curry this year. I think the Lebron/Bosh tandem should be the focus and it would be worth pretty much all of our present assets.

Alright let's see how they stack against the beast from the east (my estimates on differences between two players on a scale of ten)

PG Crittendon vs. Rondo ADV RONDO (-7)
SG Hughes vs Ray Ray This one is interesting, on a good day Hughes may be able to hold his own (+3)
SF Lebron vs Pierce ADV LBJ (+5)
PF Bosh vs Garnett ADV KG (-3)
C Hill vs Perkins ADV Perkins (-4)

Bench ADV (Sheed, Allen, House) (-8)

Total -14

That team is not half bad, infact the starting five match up fairly well the bench would kill us with Rasheed Wallace being a huge x-factor. Still some ways to go.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

While Boston may have the better team currently, i think the age factor is unquestionably in the dream team's favor.

Perkins vs Hill is an interesting matchup because i think they are both non-factors.

As for the bench, as currently constructed the boston bench is better than the dream team. but the "win" factor could make the next Sheed take a MLE contract with the Knicks instead of Beantown.

Only point is, over the next 5 years, dream team wins more championships...

You know I gonna spin wit it

aside from the ability to knock down a 3, take his man off the dribble, block a shot, defend his position, attract other bigname FA's to his team, rebound & score better, they're pretty much the same player.

knock a 3 dowN? block a shot? are we talking about the same bosH?

48/159 over 7 years...career avg of 1.1 bpg...wilson averages .7 and so does gallo...

AND NO WHERE NEAR THE REBOUNDER

dude, Bosh is 6 for 13 from 3 pt range this season, that's 46% shooting... he doesn't take a whole lotta 3's but he can hit them if he has to, he has that type of range.

& i'll take Bosh's 1 bpg over D Lee's 0.3 every day & twice on Sunday

"nowhere near the rebounder"? are u kidding me? he's averaging more rebounds than Lee is this year... stop being dense.

stats:

bosh rebounds = 11.3 (4th in nba)

lee rebounds = 10.1 (9th in nba)

Lee is more than capable of taking big men off the dribble and i think we will see more of that as he evolves his game. Also, i would still give a rebounding edge to Lee. Bosh is a very good rebounder but i think his rebounding numbers are inflated somewhat because of the team he's on. Bosh does nothing spectacular over Lee he's just slightly better in many different areas. Slightly better post game, mid range game, defender, shot blocker, and athlete where Lee is a slightly better rebounder, finisher with both hands, and passer.
Line up next year
