I said it before the season--David Lee will make the all star team. I was ridiculed but it will come true. You have to be a blind man not to see how good DLee is. Why would I want to lose an all star big man team player in his prime who doesnt need to be paid the max? He's like a modern day Dave Cowens minus some intensity but he plays more than hard enough.
I think if the Knicks are able to keep this up they will be able to trade JJ. It might cost them Chandler or Hill or something but I think you have to make that trade. I think you can use Curry's expiring deal next year AFTER you resign your guy to improve the team. I think OK4 is a possible target. IF you could swing that your starting lineup next year could look like this:
pg Douglas
sg Lebron
sf Gallo
pf Lee
C Okafor
Thats a combo of size, skill and defense that can take you deep into the playoffs year after year. IF you can get a couple of the leftovers to take scrap deals and bring back Hughes, Al or Duhon your bench is looking great too.
Knicks roster is better than Cleveland's minus Shaq and Lebron. Mo is good but Lee and Gallo are better than anyone else on that team not named Shaq or Lebron.
If your skill guys are Lee, Lebron and Gallo, and you have Douglas and Ok4 defending the post and opposing PGs thats a heck of a combo. I dont think its paramount that we get another max FA (I once was convinced it was). I think if you bring back Lee, a guy averaging 18/10 on 58% and Gallo and the Knicks are a low seeded playoff team this year thats enough.
