fishmike - of course each and every General Manager always looks to upgrade. That is what they all are paid well do. Your offer of Jesus Christ for (insert upgrade here) sounds reasonable in theory but, unless you have a readily available (not a fantasy wet dream) upgrade for Larry Hughes at the two guard, I don't want to hear a single peep about trading him this week.

Please note: The operative words are "readily available"

I'd trade Jesus for Moses Malone every day of the week.
This is basketball. If we were talkin water polo, it'd be a different story.

Haha, water polo. That's really funny. He'd play "above the rim" in that sport every time.

it's a special circumstance, this being all in for 2k10. it means if you can move jeffries or curry you do it, hughes and al included or not. you don’t worry about having a 2-guard now if you're diving in deeper into the free agency pool this summer.

Marv - are you of the opinion that the Knicks posture and preparation, for 2k10 is unprecedented?

Does Lebron need to brush up on his Italian for the Knicks 2010 pre.season Euro tour as Marc Berman claims?

Really?

D'Antoni Plays Classic New York Sarcasm To His Advantage

Mikey D reminds me, a bit, of Bill Parcells. He has his own way of running things and is sticking to it. D'Antoni also responds the silly questions with borderline snippy answers. He may have been characterized as a "players coach" (whatever that means) but he also reinforces the prime directive, which states, "You Suck, You Sit" and I dig that about him.

Speaking of possible trades...

"But Robinson is another matter. He is on a one-year, $4 million contract, which the Knicks can simply let expire next July. Unlike Stephon Marbury, who was benched and then banished last year, Robinson is not a corrosive influence in the locker room. There is little risk to keeping him around as an insurance policy.

The Knicks are open to trading Robinson, but as a player on a one-year deal, he would have veto rights. It might also be tough to find a trade partner; no team offered Robinson a contract over the summer, when he was a restricted free agent.

D’Antoni cringed when fans chanted for Robinson on Sunday. He joked about it on Monday when asked if Robinson would play that night.

“Depends,” D’Antoni said, “if people want him to or not.”

Not regurgitate the same tripe every day of the week. What happened to journalism?

If you gave a passionate, relatively intelligent person unrestricted access, and a courtside seat to every game, I guarantee you it would not be so repetitive.

I agree, it is repetitive and boring. We have numerous threads on it as well. For newspapers, it also is sensational and the Post and Daily News write to their readership. The beat writers have to come up with a story on the Knicks virtually everyday. NY has more different sports media than in any city in the US, probably the world. So someone is writing that story.

Also, many sports writers may not know enough about basketball to do an article using indepth basketball knowledge to analyze a players moves, strengths, weaknesses, how he has grown since last year, etc. This is done by the Basketball magazines.

OK- let's see if the beat writers do read the UK forum. I've thrown down a challenge to them . See if they respond.

Markji - excellent points. The way the press is herded, like sheep, by the suits at MSG is also partially to blame. The VPs of Media and PR restrict access and monitor the message to maintain the best possible image. Where is the fun and serendipity in that?

How many times must we read the same quote from the press pool?

For those reasons, creativity and positive vibes are stifled. At the end of the scale, some don't bother to mask their resentment for the franchise, head coaches or the players. Any writer who thinks he is treated like garbage, understandably may want to strike back through his laptop - and the best outlet is in a column. I get that part. Especially, when the homeboys in uniform are pampered, protected and overpaid.

The manufactured rumors of rumors are for chumps.
