Dude all you can see is dreadlocks.

Comparing a rookie to a 4th year player is a dubious comparison. Lee came into the league with a knack for rebounding and finishing with both hands. Since then he has added a FT shot and a developing mid range game. I am not overwhelmed by DLee's skillset.

I guess you aren't counting david lee's court vision and overall court awareness as a skill.
also he has some of the best hands ever. lee' sability to create proper spacing fine seams in the d and catch everthing thrown his way has been evident since his rook year and that ability had some people believing Duhon had all-star potential through the first month last season.

this reminds me of the Balkman hype

how many times are Knick fans going to over hype a rookie only to be proven that he isn't that good. My favorite was the Mardy Collins hype after he played a few good games at the end of his rookie season.

Knick fans ask yourself this if Jordan Hill was on any other NBA team would you be singing his praises? Or would you be flaying the GM for drafting such a raw player as a lotto pick?

Again, Jordan Hill is not at fault for where he was picked. Can we look at this guy with unbiased eyes?

Give Hill a chance man. Has he had the luxury of playing with Duhon in the Pick and Roll yet? Can we see him a few times getting the same opportunities before we pass judgment? You might be 100% right on Hill, but there is not enough evidence yet.

Granted, the following is based on very limited action, but it points towards a very bright future for the kid:

Hollinger's PER ratings:
3. Jordan Hill...19.35
4. Brandon Jennings...18.53

Per-48 stats:
Jordan Hill: 22.8PPG, 13.2RPG, 3AST, 3STl, 3.6BLK

I think we'll look back on the draft and thank Walsh for taking Hill, even with the emergence of Jennings. Much easier to find a guard than a 6'10" PF with skill.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

i still don't understand why he's not getting regular minutes. nobody in the league wants jared jeffries, we just have to bite the bullet. who cares about the trade value of the other guys, they're in the last year of their contracts anyway.

post all star break the line up should be what jrzyhustla posted, douglas and gallo in the backcourt and chandler, lee, and hill in the front court.

i still think lee and nate should be traded. thats the only way jeffries could get unloaded, and i think neither is worth what the knicks will ultimately have to pay for them (nate more so than lee). will be interesting to see. that PER stuff is misleading, jennings is starting and playing 40 minutes (and has the ball in his hands at the end of games and is making plays), hill's #'s are bound to be inflated he only plays every few games and when he does its sparingly and rarely in important minutes.

the bias is a necessary part of it. Walsh went into the draft fully aware of what the team needed. he will bathe in the glory or wallow in the shame of the organization believing he was worth the 8th.

While we're on the subject, could anyone with ESPN insider access post where Hill stands in the Rookie Rankings just posted?

You need your center to run the point too??? Jordan is a big man and he does all the big man stuff very well. His activity is what the Knicks have missed...if you are home or near a TV the Knicks replay is playing now. Check out the 4th quarter again. The element he brings is totally on display.

no but I prefer being able to run an O through him and for that he needs to be able to dribble some and pass. Look at Curry and imagine what kind of post game he and NY would have had if he could dribble and pass.

i dunno what threads you've been reading of late but we see guys who haven't proven jack in the NBA get praised with regularity around here... i lost count of how many "Let's trade for Jerryd Bayless" threads i've seen in the past year... then u have someone saying guys like Hasheem Thabeet, Spencer Hawes, Donte Green, Ty Lawson, etc., etc. are more promising than the guys we have on other threads... if u ask me the exact opposite has been going on around here for as long as i can remember... every prospect on every other team is better than ours... guys like D Lee, Nate, Gallo, Wilson & Hill weren't even given a chance to show what they could do before being bashed on these forums by the typical crowd of naysayers.

pheonix suns announcers were praising gallo and were also talking about how good, jordan hill was in college and how good they think he will be in the NBA.....

u don't put up 18 & 11 by accident... Jordan Hill has skills & can ball... give him minutes & he'll produce, i have no doubts in my mind about that... he might not be an Allstar calibre prospect right off the bat like Jennings is, but he'll be a good player for us at the 4/5 & bring some much needed elements that we've been missing for a long time, namely shotblocking & a little bit of nastiness in the paint.

I wouldn't describe Jordan Hill as raw...Jordan is a big man and he is doing well with the big man activities. Jordan is being asked to ball handle and he isn't comfortable...but he is getting better at it.

If this losing is gonna continue and the Knicks leading scorer in Harrington is so bad he comes off the bench, then Duhon and probably Wilson or Lee needs to eat it as well. Jordan needs to start or at the very least, get into the rotation.

Big difference. Hill can shoot, which Balkman couldn't, and Hill has shown a willingness to improve his game, which Balkman has not. Obviously, Hill needs to work and has a long way to go, but the basic athleticism, scoring skills, and defensive instincts are there. He just needs to develop them and his body. Balkman never really had shooting skills.
