i wish there was a feature on this site where i can put any 'lebron coming to ny or not thread' on ignore

It's not about LeBron or bust though. That's media and fan speculation.

It was about cleaning up an absolute mess and not repeating the same crippling financial decisions.

If LeBron doesn't come it doesn't matter because we will finally be a team shed of disastrous long term deals, full of young talent, and all the money in the world to improve it with.

So I never bought this attitude that the Knicks are fools for wasting two years for a slim chance at LeBron. It's simply not true in any way.

Houston, Spree? Camby? Prob just because of the Finals run.

Unfortunately the last 10 years have been marred with losing, so no player can leave with a better rep on default.

houston i'd say no because of the contract and injury.

spree i guess the awol's, fines, dog attacks and boat foreclosure looked better than battery and assault via neck grip

camby came in perceived as a wimp and left not so much a wimp but certainly as an injury-prone whiner.

The Notorious J.V.G.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I don't buy into the hype about players not wanting to come here. The way I see it, if any star player had any sense, then he'd WANT to play for the largest market team in the NBA, period.

GO KNICKS, and later for the haters and the naysayers.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

food for thought:

Forbes lists NBA franchise values

NEW YORK -- The Los Angeles Lakers are the NBA's most valuable team, and 12 franchises lost money in the 2008-09 season, according to Forbes magazine.

In its annual listing of the value of NBA franchises, Forbes finds Lakers to be worth $607 million, up 4 percent for the league champions. Second are the New York Knicks at $586 million, but that is a 4 percent drop. The Knicks led the rankings for the four previous seasons.

The Chicago Bulls ($511 million), Detroit Pistons ($479 million) and Cleveland Cavaliers ($476 million) round out the top five.

At the bottom of the 30-team rankings are the Milwaukee Bucks at $254 million. The league average worth is $367 million, down 4 percent, according to Forbes.

The teams losing money in the last 12 months are the Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, Orlando Magic, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Charlotte Bobcats, New Jersey Nets, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies and Bucks.

Teams' average operating income was $7.8 million, with the Lakers at the top with $51.1 million, just ahead of the Bulls at $51 million. Portland's value has increased the most, by 10 percent, while the Kings and Grizzlies each have dropped the most, by 13 percent.

i wonder if owners stand their ground for the 2010 class - meaning, let's say chris bosh tells toronto that he wants to go to ny. but the knicks don't have any package that toronto likes. with the economy the way it is, instead of agreeing to take back contracts, would they just tell bosh he can walk for nothing? bosh would then have to seriously consider whether giving up 1 year and $30 mil is worth it to him.

i also wonder how many owners will not be offering their guys huge contracts with a strike coming in a year?

some of these guys have an option for next year (including lebron + bosh + wade) - is there a possibility they pick it up and wait for 2011? the rumor is that 2011 will increase max deals but eliminate the MLE. those guys may be in line to make more money by waiting a year.

If guys don't wanna come here to hell with them...

Me and Silver were saying it at the get together....if the NY Knicks win a nba title the entire city will be in total chaos!!! Yeah the Lakers won last year...does anyone even remember that they won? How bout titles the last few seasons? I think the Pistons winning was the last memorable NBA Finals. You win in NY you are a cultural icon forever. Kings of NY! I mean damn...Clyde, Reed and the rest of the crew still are eating off of the 2 championships they won 40years ago...

Yeah so, I doubt a douchebag like Wade would come. Wade, even though he is very good, is the type that thinks he is bigger than the game. Bosh is annoyed no one recognizes him but I see him going to play in Miami with Wade.

Lebron is not stupid. He know what he is to the world as a Basketball player...he's playing for the 3rd world of the united states and that is Clevland. Playing in NY and winning that championship would take his celebrity into new heights...probably surpass the status of Mike Jordan in chi-town and Kobe in LA. Money is already crazy but it would be crazier.

Even if Lebron stays...I believe there are players out there that want to play in NYC. Al Harrington proves that...

I just need to restate the fact that this city will be in flames if the Knicks win!!! Actually the world....there is a huge NYC fanbase in Miami, Charlotte, DC, New Jersey, Europe, asia...you name it...the whole world would be going crazy!!!

eny you of all people would love the hell out of wade if he were here. he may talk like he's bigger than the game but he doesn’t play that way. he is balls-out, on defense as well as offense. he throws his damn body into every play. the way he willed miami back into their series and over dallas was one of the top few performances ever. if we got him here it would be all over.

i know your point is he won't come so screw him, but jesus what an ultimate rush that would be.

We're getting SOMEONE. That is FOR SURE.

Donnie knows how to run a franchise and combine that with MDA-- the ULTIMATE players coach and system --and then add to it Da Gahden, then you see, that's 3 huge pieces. A 4th piece is Gallinari.

The freakin' foundation has been set!! Someone will walk in here and we might be in the Finals next season.

YOU GUYS GOTTA REALIZE ONE THING:

THE REASON we haven't been able to lure a big free agent in recent memory is because, from 84-2000 it was Ewing, then we had stupid regimes that overspent on that one-dimensional bum, Alan Houston, and then we had the salary cap HELL created by Isiah Thomas.

There has been no opportunity for any big names to come.

For the first time in the history of the modern free agent era, we have both the space and the shrewd leadership to make the best of this 2010 class, which, incidientaly, is also the most fertile free agent crop the NBA has EVER seen!!!

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.
