I just think that ours is a crisis of focus.
He gets beat defensively
recovers with startling athleticism and blocks ray allen's shot
then poses while the celtics grab the loose ball and score.
We lose in a one posession game.
He's not the only one responsible, but he's one of the worst in the league in this department.
There are athletes and shooters all over the NBA. Teams need professionals to win.
when i first saw that play u'r talking about (it was Rondo whose shot he blocked), i first thought the same... same ol' Nate w/his stupid shenanigans... but then i watched it over & over & he didn't really pause to pose, he recovered pretty quickly to try & block the putback attempt but his momentum carried him into the cushion while Rondo fell underneath him... there were other Knicks under the basket after Nate blocked the shot, they could have stopped the Celtics from scoring but they didn't grab the loose ball & the Celtics ended up scoring on the play... i can't really blame him for lack of focus on that play, but i agree w/u in general Nate needs to stop w/the stupid shenanigans & focus more.
I only saw the play when broadcast, so I cant be sure. But Howard Beck saw it as I did:
From the New York Times Blog:
"Early in the fourth quarter, Robinson blocked Rajon Rondo’s driving layup, then turned to the end zone, flexed and bellowed at the crowd. While he was preening, the Celtics got the ball back, and Robinson turned to find Marquis Daniels driving down the baseline for an uncontested layup."
There is really NO PLACE for posing before a whistle blows. It just more of his usual "look at me! look what I did!" antics.
I don't think he's a bad person, but such character challenges take decades to develop and sometimes decades to overcome. Who really would want to invest a few million per into that?
