+1 and since Griffin's game is very dependent on his athleticism, the guy needs to be careful with those knees. But, we all are looking forward to the clear #1 pick playing. (Though in hindsight, one might say it was Jennings).

Can we lock this thread or the other thread so that we can have ONE conversation on Gallo's back problems?

I don't feel like repeating myself to the "THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH GALLO STOP TROLLING" crowd.

Read my latest post in the Gallo Back Problems Poll Thread to see what I would say to everyone in this thread who is suggesting there's nothing going on.

Some of us are taking this issue all wrong. When someone mentions gallo's back problem it's not like they want him to be injured for the knicks all season or for his career. What they are questioning is if management is picking players this high in the draft, to take the time to check out his physical background not just his skill set.

Gm's and scouts will go far and beyond to look into a players background when it comes to his social life and who he hangs out with and what kind of character flaws he has because of the investment the franchise is making into him.

But in this case I feel management(due to personal ties Dantoni-gallo's father roommates) overlooked his physical condition and hoped all the fans would understand the choice of this high pick due to his skill set alone. At 21 yrs old and having A back problem is a serious matter, just as serious as a players social life background.

But in this case management seem to have overlooked it and want the fans to do so too.

I disagree. I think there can't be too many threads about Gallo's backo.

I thinks it's sad that a 30 win team that has two lottery picks and neither makes an impact consistently in games.

There's no proof of any pre-existing injury so is it talked about as if it was common knowledge. ANYONE can get injured as Griffin and Oden can attest to.

Do any of you suffer from lower back problems? Spasms? Slipped disc? Etc? Because I do and I just know the body language. I know how it is to be able to do some things and then unable to do others. I know what he is going through. It's also fact that he is suffering from back spasms.

Let me post something we just saw from today's 1st quarter versus Boston.

He starts slow, bumps into a player, reacts slow (that's lower back spasms, weakness) then he gets going and throws down a monster jam.
Second play: He bobbles the ball and then is just incapable of reaching for it. Incapable of reacting quickly to start moving to chase the ball. He just couldn't do it. This wasn't a mistake play on his part this is his back tightening up - and believe me it's momentarily incapacitating - and being unable to react how he wants to. Watch it several times. I know that feeling and I know that body language.

This really isn't something to debate we know he's having trouble. For those that can't read or understand the body language he is displaying approach it this way: He is far too talented to do such stupid things is he not? Airballs after swishing threes. Unable to pursue a loose ball on multiple occasions. These aren't mistakes or rookie mistakes. He's not stupid. These are a result of his lower back tightening up on him. I call them tweaks.

I can pick up and throw 80lb bags of sacrete from a truck bed to a pile on the ground no problem. I reach down to dust off my boot? MF'ER you don't understand what happens then. Sharp tightening pain in the lower back and I stop dead in my tracks for a moment.

That...is exactly what you are seeing here.

I actually got a kick out of that dunk! Gallo doesn't get up high, but he gets there none the less. I think the kid is gonna be special once he really gets a chance to train and get stronger and more explosive. He's got that deceptive speed. He's not just gonna blow by, but when you can shoot like him you don't have to be real fast. All he's got to do is up fake and that's gonna get a lot of defenders to bite.

Cosmic, I am not saying I know more than you about back problems, but at the same time, I have seen people with body types similar to that of Galo to play just like this on a playground. One of my best friends does similar things. He is just a big white dude, who coincidentally can shoot well. He is just stiff with a lot of the things he does when he plays ball, that is just the nature of his body mechanics.

Not saying its impossible that Galo has back problems, but the instances you are pointing out, I have seen people who I know don't have back problems do similar things.

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I agree. I have seen a lot of players move the same way as Gallo and they have a healthy back.

It would seem odd for him to be wanting the dunk the ball and actually stay out there and play well if he was having spasms during the game. The only thing I see is that he's not jumping as high as he did when I watched his Euro clips. He's actually lost some of his explosion. Just look at his vids and see where his head is on some of those dunks and you compare that with how he jumps now and he isn't the same. That's understandable in only a few months after his surgery!!! Wade didn't have the same explosion when he came back and it took a year for him to get back to his old self. Most recovery from just about any type injury takes time to get over fully.
