I think Douglas off the bench for Hughes and Iverson is a good idea. Duhon should help with Towels and stuff like that...

Since we don't have a pick might as well make the playoffs. It's not like more losses are going to bebefit us.

orlando: tmac and ghill

also, if it's clear that the Free Agent is set on leaving, sometimes teams wind up arranging sign and trades which help out both teams and allows the under the cap team to not really have to renounce everything. Orlando did this for Grant Hill and Toronto did this for Hedo. it can happen and I have to think it's one of Donnie's options this summer.

if toronto knows for a fact Bosh is leaving, would they take a package of Nate/Chandler/Jeffries or something? that'd create enough space for two max deals.

also, if we don't renounce everyone and officially go under the cap we get to keep our MLE and LLE for summer of 2010, which would be HUGE in building a team. i'm sure donnie is aware of this and will try to work with whatever team we sign guys from.

i don't get this... as far as i know only teams that are over the cap get a MLE to use to sign FA's.

& i don't see TOR taking that package in return for Bosh in a milion years, u'd have to throw in a lot more, probably either Gallo or Hill along w/TD instead of Nate, or D Lee instead of Fishlips.

Yup, and it's not like Iverson is going to hold the ball 24/7 on the court and it's not like he'll be playing 40 minutes (At least most likely not). The young guys will learn from him. He's a winning player who doesn't leave anything on the table and our guys need to see a glimpse of that for 71 games. If he acts like a prick, then cut him. No big deal.

Ellis put up season avg. numbers against Boston last night(18 points, four assists, four rebounds and three steals). Rumor has it Boston has a pretty good defensive team. I would think that kind of consistency is worth looking into when your team is inconsistent at best and a team might be willing to let him go for basically nothing. I'm can't say that GS is trading him, but I am saying that we should be keeping an eye on it. My hunch is that he will be moved. Next year, AI will be gone and we don't have a starting PG. The names of FA's being tossed around don't play the point so i think it's important to have the position solidified this year if you want to attract a guy like LBJ. That's all I'm saying. Granted, you don't like Ellis, but he is a good player and a definite upgrade to anyone else currently on this roster.

who said i don't like Ellis? i already commented in another thread if we could get him in a Curry/Chandler trade i'd do it... but again, i'm talking in logic terms here... Donnie Walsh is not gonna sign AI if he has aims to trade for Monta Ellis, at least not this year... in the offseason that might be a different story.

We should really go hard after Randolph. He seems very unhappy and he isn't getting any minutes. Tony Douglas/Hill is a nice package for them and would be a great deal for us.

boy... the fans there all think he's the next KG. Who knows what management thinks. Maybe Nellie would go for Gallo. Probably play him at center.

See, that's the thing. I think you have to be opportunistic here. If he is available now then we need to make a play for him now. If you can move JJ in the deal, that's ideal. I don't think that Curry's trade value is going to drop. There's still plenty of time to deal him if he can continue to play well. Sure, it's a gamble but it does make this team better, it could translate into more wins...and we have a starting PG solidified and we can concentrate on some of the big name FA's that will be available. Maybe it's just me, but if I was a max FA looking to sign with a team i would want to know who's on it. If I asked 'who's your PG' and the answer was....eh...we're still looking around but we have some very good possibilities...I'd be a little luke warm about signing

also, moving Duhon/jeffries for Ellis might be the grease that frees up a roster spot. Frankly, I think the whole AI thing is a ploy to get GS to the table. Like I said in another thread...feint right, go left

looks like the big stall is on with AI. Another coincidence for us conspiracy theorists....I don't think GSW can make a trade before tomorrow nights game since they would only have 7 active players on their roster. There next game after that isn't until Tuesday so if it's going to get done, I think it gets done Sat/Sun.

News that signing Allen Iverson may force the Knicks to move another player simultaneously could make this deal take several days to get done.

Hahn also posted something in his twitter about that. I don't know why this would need to coincide with the AI signing."
