Asked early yesterday if he was anticipating a fine, Sprewell said: "I'm sure they're going to fine me. It's nothing new. I'm so used to fines. They think that bothers me."
-from 12/25 Frank Isola article
He's not fazed by the fine- it was worth it to him.
Let's not get twisted on semantics. There is a BIG difference between a warrior and a misfit, Bobby. Get it straight.
While some Spree hater club members (Bobby, NYK8 and Playa) are in full effect on this thread, If you would put the damn torches down and take a look at what's going on and realize that the Spree incident quite possibly may have helped this team, the energy would be much better spent.
a couple of parting shots for you...
Antonio McDyess on Latrell Sprewell's vulgar performance Tuesday at the Garden: "Oh man, he was kind of out of control. I didn't expect him to act that way. I guess he had a lot of frustration that he held in and wanted to get it out so I understand that."
"What was more eye-opening is how much the Knicks need somebody who plays ball the way Sprewell does.
Go ahead and whack Sprewell around for the way he acted when basketball wasn't being played the other night. Call him names. Get on him good for crossing the line the same way Charles Barkley did once when he spit into the crowd. But when there was basketball being played Tuesday night, Sprewell played it harder and better than anybody the Knicks had.
If the Knicks still had Sprewell playing like this - and please don't tell me he has lost a step; where was that lost step when he was blowing past Shandon Anderson in the fourth quarter after playing 40 minutes? - I believe they might be four or five games better in the standings. And you know what that means this season in the pathetically ordinary Atlantic Division?
First or second place.
The Knicks were a .500 team when Sprewell was healthy last season. You're telling me they wouldn't be now?
We are now supposed to believe that the Knicks had no choice but to get rid of a guttersnipe like this, as if he acted this way all the time. Only he did not. Despite all the hand-wringing from the television commentators, you kept waiting for one of them to point out that for all this vulgar excess, what Sprewell mostly did when the game was being played was show everybody how much the Knicks need somebody like him."

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year.
GO KNICKS!
