^^^someone said it earlier and i agree - iverson will be content w 30 minutes a night and if douglas keeps playing hard, he'll still get his playing time. i dont think dantoni will buy into the hype as much as fans want him to. if the fans had their way iverson would be playing the whole game just because of the fact he adds personality to the game. also, i think he knows he'd be a one year rental and prob play w a chip on his shoulder to prove people (memphis et al) that he is still a starting caliber point guard.

duhon will get the last seat on the bench if this goes down. he'll be done b/c dantoni will have no more use for him outside of running the 2nd team in practice.

in almost any other year and in any other situation with the Knicks I would say no to signing AI. But the Knicks suck so much and are leaderless and heartless, I would consider it. BUT, and it's a must, Douglas must be in the guard rotation at at least 20 minutes per or more at Duhon's expense. It's a must.

I agree... I go fast and quick. I would move Duhon for any wing player who can defend or hit a 3. Someone like a JAmes Jones type. Rotate AI, Douglas and Nate at the 1/2 for about 30 minutes each. If your going to run at least do it with some guys that can score. Nate, AI and Douglas can do that.

Exactly, if we are not going to defend anyway, might as well let Nate, AI, and Douglas run wild.

Absolutely. No way you bring him here and retard Douglas' growth in the process. All AI's PT has to come at the expense of Duhon.

I'd sign Iverson and basically play Chandler, Gallo, Hill and Douglas around him and see what happens. It may well open things up for those guys because you'd have a penetrating guard. They aren't gonna win a lot of games either way. If Ivo plays really well here you may be able to get something for him at the deadline. At worst he's gone at the end of the year.

This is a no-brainer--you have a PG who is shooting 20% you need improvement. This is a guy who usually carries teams into the playoffs--great two way opportunity. He's not going to hinder anything if he comes here--he will bring some hard-nosed play and way better skill from the 1 guard.

Knicks have no 1st round draft pick. They have just made the worst start in franchise history. They have a roster spot.

Sign allen iverson and stop ****ing playing! We are talking about veterans minimum. If iverson wants to play around? Waive him.

Done deal. I dunno why he's not signed yet?

agree with you in every facet Martin. AI is a must and at Duhon's expense.

Papabear Says

Donnie Walsh confirmed that the Knicks are interested in signing Allen Iverson once the guard clears waivers.

Iverson and the Grizzlies parted ways after a tumultuous start to the season.

Can Allen Iverson save the Knicks' season, rescue them at the box office or at least make them relevant again?

Donnie Walsh will spend the next 48 hours debating what impact, both negative and positive, Iverson could have on the organization. Walsh, the Knicks' president, confirmed last night that the club will explore the possibility of signing Iverson, the former league MVP who was placed on waivers Tuesday by the Memphis Grizzlies.

"We'll look into it," Walsh told the Daily News. "Right now, I'd say probably not but we'll see."

A source close to Iverson says he'd be eager to play in Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo system. Iverson had similar interest over the summer but the Knicks passed. But with the team off to its worst 10-game start in franchise history, Walsh may have a change of heart.

Iverson, 34, would generate much-needed buzz for the 1-9 Knicks, who are in desperate need of a proven scorer and marquee name.

But Walsh and D'Antoni will have to consider if adding another veteran is right for the Knicks, who are in a rebuilding mode. Iverson's presence could hinder, not help, the development of .Danilo Gallinari and rookie point guard Toney Douglas. Moreover, Iverson has made it known that he still considers himself a starter.

The Knicks have an available roster spot to sign Iverson when he becomes an unrestricted free agent tomorrow. Iverson, a 10-time All-Star, can play either guard position but the Knicks would likely make another move if Iverson signed since there wouldn't be enough playing time for Chris Duhon, Larry Hughes, Nate Robinson and Douglas. All with the exception of Douglas are in the last year of their contracts.

The most plausible scenario would be the Knicks negotiating a buyout with Hughes. The veteran guard told The News that he addressed his status with management before the season and whether he'd play much. Hughes admitted that if he weren't factoring into the team's plans, the two sides were prepared to discuss a buyout. But since being benched for the first two games, Hughes has become a regular in D'Antoni's rotation.

If Iverson can't land a deal with the Knicks, there is a chance he would consider waiting a few months, then try to sign with a contending team.

Iverson signed an incentive-filled one-year deal with the .Grizzlies in September but was unhappy with his limited role.

He missed the Grizzlies' first three games with a hamstring injury and played in just three others. Iverson averaged 12.3 points, 3.7 assists and played just 22 minutes per game. He then left the team, citing personal reasons, and hinted he might retire.

"The Grizzlies and Allen Iverson have come to a mutual agreement that because of personal matters that forced him to leave the team on Nov. 7, Allen will step away from the game at this time," Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace said in a statement. "As a result, we will be ending our contractual agreement with Allen, which will allow both parties to move forward. We wish Allen the best."

Charlotte just made their guard pick-ups, and I just can't see Dallas with Kidd, Barea, Terry, and Beaubois in the backcourt being interested.

Walsh can't look too desperate, and I would hope that he could extract some promises from the still arrogant Iverson to get him to play some kind of team game.

I would put a lot of incentives into the contract and have a big sit-down with Iverson, Walsh, and MDA about his role on the team if they sign him.

Iverson is still is a 20pt scorer....its like a witch hunt. Like the league was waiting for him to get old so they can **** on him. He hasn't really lost much and whatever he did lose just reverted him to all-star status instead of the all world mega talent he was for over a decade.

and yeah...knicks don't have to sign him for 10 years...all they need to do is extend vet minimum contract for the rest of the year. Iverson doesn't need incentives to produce...give the dude the starting job and he will run through walls trying to win. Now will he practice??? lmao...that's another story, lol. He has no choice but to practice though cuz he'd be joining a new team.

Duhon just needs to be ignored. I don;t see where this loyalty is coming from with Duhon.
