Curry could be a beast for this team and I am amazed that he appears in shape. The guy is a tremendous athelete, has huge hands and could own the post when not in shape. I can't wait to see him on the court. Hopefully some practice footage will be available soon.

But seriously, Q is benefiting greatly from playing on a team where he is being asked to play a fitting role and where there is a star player and some good players to spread the burden. Q was never a bad player. He just isn't making anyone's squad good by himself.

His efficiency indicates a below-average player.

Well since we all watched him for several years we can comment on more than his shooting averages, no? And a player is not judged solely on his shooting and scoring averages, at least in my book.

Q is a decent defensive player and a strong rebounder for his position with a 5 rebound per game average for his entire career. While his shooting averages are not great, he can score long range and post up. He has a career average of 1.6 assists per game which is not bad and not great.

those stats, coupled with what I have actually seen from him indicates a slightly above average player, what I would describe as a "good player". The kind of guy who is a solid contributor on a good team but cannot make a bad team good. I think this observation is corroborated by the records of the team he has played on during his career history as well.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I was talking about his player efficiency rating not his shooting average. 15.00 is league average for PER.

I remember Stromile swift had quite a good PER once upon a time, so did Eddy Curry.

Eddy was barely above average at best.

Curry probably lost the weight with more colon cleanser or some fad diet or some weight loss pill. I'm willing to bet his conditioning is still **** and he gets completely winded after 5-10 minutes of PT

I always said that if Curry ever got down to 290 lbs., he would become a top-5 center. I guess we will see. This dude is a beast on the low block, and with better conditioning, his rebounds and defense should improve slightly. If MDA gives him 25 minutes a game, I would expect 13-15 pts, 5 rbs. from him. That might be enough to convince some team to trade for him.

My abosolute worse fear with Curry is not that he will not play well now that he appears to be in shape, but that he will play so well that Waslh starts have second thoughts about trading him. Curry cannot be depended on moving forward. If we can get an expiring contract for him, it would be the same as getting a lottery pick for him. IMO the only way Lebron comes here is if we can also sign an Amare or Bosh. We need to move Eddy to do that. I just fear MDA might see the light and start Douglas, sit fishlips, and play Curry on the block for 25 minutes a game and watch him throw in 15 pts a game and then he and Walsh start thinking we should keep him.

Why move Curry if he's good? He's the type of player, when he is on his game, you that need to win in this league.

Seriously, move Effries and you can go for two max players this year. If Curry scrubs this year, he expires the year after and roll for another max.

Because you can't depend on him to take care of himself. If we have the opportunity to trade Curry and pass on it, the team needs to have someone with him 365 days a year to see that he stays in shape. If we ever extend his contract, we need to have a clause in it that gives the team an out if he fails to stay in shape.

Exactly, unless we are willing to babysit Curry for the rest of his career, you just cannot have this guy on the team. Plus, your team is only as strong as the weakest link and if you have a guy on your team that is a main cog, but who does not have the passion to stay in shape on his own, what does that say about the will of your team as a whole. It just seems to weaken us. I like Curry, I wish he had more passion, and I am fully convinced that if he stays under 295, he can be effective, but I just don't want him on our team longterm.
