He had a run with the Lakers as a Coach and got canned or left in middle of the season. He was only there for 25 games or something.

He had a show the Majic Johnson show and got canned.

He is currently a staff memeber of the Lakers a glorified cheerleader.

He shows up on TNT and has trouble speaking but makes his point

He owns businesses that are successful Majic Johnson group of theaters.

All in all he and Thomas are about the same. Thomas is the better coach and probably a better talent evaluator. Majic doesn't have experience in that capacity.

I like the Thomas hiring he is going to be a good fit for this team. I guess only time will tell. But I wokeup with a big grin on my face this morning knowing that Layden is gone.
LMAO
That magic Johnson show really was terrible. I dont mind him (Thomas) as the GM but I really really hope he doesn't coach the Knicks.

Anyone is better than Layden.

And anyone will be better than Chaney.

I hope ZEKE does not coach. I hope he stays as President/GM. I think he can pick talent and I think he can build a team in todays NBA. But with that, I will say he has to prove himself in the toughest city in the world, NY!

All eyes are on you, Isiah. I was not a fan of him as a player, but I respected his game. I like what he did as GM in Toronto and I think he stinks as a coach. He seems to be a coach that can get the team to play well but he cannot take them over the top.

We Will See

Zeke is the perfect fit for all you guys who want to develop youth on the knicks as an extreme need rightb now. Remember when he was GM in toronto he wanted to develop youth Stodamire and Camby etc... and his head coach at the time ( Brendan Malone) just wanted to win games by playing vets to keep his job. Results Malone got canned for ZEKES FRIENDS.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I really Hope Isiah goes with an obvious choice for head coach because he has a terrible record at picking coaches.

Zeke also left in '97 because the owners didn't like what he was doing. He wanted to play only the young guys instead of best player wins the job.

I.Thomas should only worry about being a GM. He should hire a good coach and leave the coaching jobs upto him. I am dying to see a good coach with this roster. I have always said that a good coach (even a decent coach) like Doc Rivers (plz get us Doc) or George Karl (not my choice but he will do well with this roster) will take us into the second round of the playoffs. I just hope Chaney is not allowed to dig a hole too deep for the next coach!

If true, then Dolan will give him the keys and let him rebuild, or this was a bad hire and done to bring in a talking head to placate the masses. He was about youth in Indiana.

If I remember correctly the youth movement in Indiana had begun before Thomas got there. they traded Dale for jermaine and Antonio before they hired Thoms. It was the GM's decision.

Toronto didn't have much money so they had to go that route of the draft. I think he will do more than just rebuild. I think he will do what Ainge is doing in Boston. rebuild very subtly and be competitive every year. Thomas has definately learnt from his psat mistakes and wont repeat them. I have no idea what to expect immidiately but I do hope we get a new coach.

I actually agree with the fist 2 lines in your post!!! I am not sure about the rest, who were Zeke's friends? Isiah thinks he can find the next great player so he likes to play the young guys. Also they are hungrier if not as knowledgable.

I hope this means FWILL plays ALOT more, I hope this means, Lampe and Sweets get off the IL and get to play any minutes. I think this team could still go to the playoffs with the right coaching and Fwill playing PG and Lampe and Sweets getting garbage minutes instead of Spoon and OH. Let them ride the IL. Harrington has a decent contract he should be traded with an Eisley for a Stoudamire type ( a guy makeing more $$ but for less years than Eisley!). Who else fills that bill?

Wallace?
