I'm loving this, hopefully Isiah will make the deals that Layden didn't have the guts or knowledge to make.

I have exclusive information that Scott is out and Isiah Thomas will be introduced as the new GM of the New York Knicks.

well, I don't know if your exclusive info was from WFAN, but you seemed to have been the first out with the info. Nice.

Knicks fans with clear vison will rejoice, while the fickle flip-floppers who backed LayDown crawl their invertebrate asses back under the rock. I love it.

Now all Isaiah has to do is make the right moves. Wow, it feels SO refreshing!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

It seems like Layden lost the battle. It was him or Chaney and like Dolan did before (Grunfeld or JVG) he chose to chop the GM.

I am not an ISIAH fan as a coach at all. I don't think he is good enough to win a ring. That being said, I DO think he can chnage the direction of this team as the GM. I think he will be able to make some deals and attract some talent to NY. I would think Chaney is safe for now. Isiah will evaluate him probably through the all-star break. If Isiah does not take over as coach, look for Isiah guys to take over for next year. Darrell Walker, Butch Carter (please no!!) Or maybe a Laimbeer or Mahorn. Isiah will bring back NY toughness as he did with Indy last year. That is good.

As for Layden, have a Merry Christmas, Scott. You know Dolan is a SOB for doing this 3 days before Christmas. Heartless bastard. Layden will latch on as an assistant GM somewhere.

As for NY, they have a guy with 2 rings on his fingers calling the shots now. I think that is good. I am not an Isiah fan as a coach, I liked his play and I think he was a decent GM in Toronto.

Its better than it was, that is for sure. I am sure he will clear up this roster imbalance and that is a great thing!

Playa...all quiet about your boy? Where is his BOZAK now? If you are in the know like you claim, I guess you just missed this one huh?
Well at least you have Isiah now. You were a big Isiah fan last year.

Dolan doing what he does best, make a move to keep the faithful forking over the phist Phull of Dollars!

Zeke gonna play the point?

You guys talk big about boycotting the team, but your falling for the same crap again.

Dolan went out and got the biggest name he could find!

I wish zeke all the best. ESPN classic did a 10 year old interveiw with him and Roy FIrestone this morning. Interesting.

Laydog got no doubt a nice going away package!

Zekes track record is not all that great. He'll stir the pot perhaps, and maybe learned a thing or two.

I hope he can inject some of his fatherly love into KVH!

I wish him the best of luck and hope he proves to do well.

Quite frankly, I am stunned by Dolans move. It may be Laydons in ability to swing some deals. Maybe Laydog was trying to rebuild and Dolan objected?

The timing lends itself to establish a trading agenda before the dead line. With a new face, perhaps the garden faithful will accept a house cleaning without Laydog. I long agreed Laydog we not suited for the job as he is not charismatic in a city that requires promotion. I was hoping his intellect would win in the long run.

I wish him and his family well in the future. Perhaps he can further his good guy status in a different arena where he may succeed in a different capacity.

I hope this is not a public relations move and Dolan gives Zeke some real balls to make things happen!

hey, can anyone detail the moves Isiah made as the Toronto GM? I think he drafted Camby and Mighty Mouse, but did he also draft T-Mac and trade for Vince?

Yes, yes and yes. No Vince though.

Isiah also aquired Doug Christie...who then went on to win the most improved player award.

I have a different hypothesis. Dolan knows nothing about sports, so he goes on Layden's word that McDyess is this great superstar type player, even though McDyess, although talented, has never taken a team to the playoffs. So, Dolan waits out the McDyess injury, goes on record saying that once McDyess is playing, the team will improve dramatically. McDyess returns, team goes 0-6, he gets a little better, but not take-over-games-and-win better. Dolan looks bad for saying Dyess would be a superstar on this team, when the writing on the wall says McDyess is getting outplayed by Donyell Marshall. We all know Dyess is talented, and still feeling his way back, but the team is 8 games under .500, and Houston is still the only guy who can even hope to take over a game at this point, and that doesn't happen a whole lot.

Dolan promised a playoff team, and Layden gave him a team who cannot compete in the worst division in pro sports, and at the league's highest payroll. Layden made Dolan look foolish.

Also, Chaney's departure may not be far off, but Layden has never fired a coach, so perhaps Dolan couldn't trust Layden to pull it off.

I don't think "rebuilding" is in their vocabulary.

Here's a Q? Who was GM at Toronto when Malone was the coach?

Read this: http://www.nba.com/coachfile/brendan_malone/?nav=page

And you get the picture. Malone and Thomas have done a lot of work together. Looks like Chaney will be out and Malone in. But first, player personnel moves have to be made.

Mad Dog went into this a bit, and they found that it was Isaiah who fired Malone after he and Thomas had "a disagreement towards the direction of the team". There might be some bad blood there, so he might not be a front runner.

Lon Krueger is a interesting choice, but I think that maybe Doc Rivers comes back to the Knicks to coach. That too would be a dooosey.

I am listening to Mad Dog now, and the dude is sounding like he actually wants to defend that fool LayDown. Callers are letting him have it, as deserved. It kinda reminds me of how I'd respond to Nedyal's LayDown fan club rants that I had to fire back about earlier in the season.

As far as the Knicks are concerned, I am damn glad that LayDown is GONE. Let's pick up his severed head and put it up on a stake in the front of MSG to show all who enter that the era of mediocrity is coming to an end.

It's time to clean house. Let's get Chaney outta there next. Steve Mills too. Let's get things in order. I KNOW there will be at least one trade that will help out the Knicks coming down the line real soon.

I don't care who has a problem with Isaiah. They can go root for whatever team stupid enough to pick LayDown up. LayDown getting kicked to the curb will only make things better. I feel so much more optimistic now. It's like a breath of fresh air knowing that heads are finally rolling, but I am not surprised because I said that it would happen before the season ended anyway.

Ok Ian Eagle is giving Mad Dog a nice lesson on the NBA. He likes the move cos at least Isiah is bold, he takes chances. Sometimes they work sometimes they dont but at least he takes them unlike Layden. I hope they talk about Chaney

Instead of worrying anout Mad Dog, who is not even a real Knicks fan, listen to Joe Benigno tonight at 1AM. He is a REAL Knicks fan who has no fear of telling it like it is.
