darko is the best pick up we've made in the last 5 years outside of gallo and nate and lee and chandler...he was dominant on defense in the preseason look for him to give us a 5 win boost just by himself.
WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Bottom line is that our team is bottom five in the league. Its unfortunate, but its the hard truth.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion so fast.

To expect anything from Hughes is pure foolishness.

It will be good to be a Utah fan this year. You get to have a playoff team, AND route for the knicks to win the lottery.

I've tried to post to this thread eighteen times already but haven't been able to do it. I am a proven poster on this forum though, so i don't think i need to prove that by making a post on this preseason thread.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

hughes doesn't seem like he is all that interested in playing. Maybe he is sick of the grind of the nba? lost a step? bored? it happens...

He is also the highest paid Knick at the moment...it'll be hard to move him. unless the Knicks take back salary and thats not happening. Im just very disappointed in Hughes.

bottom 3rd... lets be fair. Injuries, chemistry, coaching... lots of factors bounce teams around. Obviously the hope is the Knicks take a step forward. That would be close to a .500 team. 40 wins and an 8th seed. A step back would be bottom 5th team.

I think I mentioned this a few days ago--makes a ton of sense---why waste any extra money we can get back or deal with PT drama issues with anyone who is not going to be here going forward. If we can save 1mm and cut down any possible aggravation why not? Im still hoping that the see ways to improve the team for this year--I dont want to give away any years when we don't own our own pick

You got to keep Hughes in case of injuries. It would be crazy to buy him out to save $1mil or whatever sum you're talking about. I don't like Hughes anymore then most of you guys, but if he's not being a cancer then you must keep him. Obviously Walsh is not going to take back a contract with a longer duration, so Hughes value as an expiring is limited to him coming off our payroll at the end of this year. I still got some faith in Hughes, though it's very very very small.

the thought is chemistry. If Hughes isnt playing is he going to practice hard? Play hard on a per need basis? I think the thought is NO and that being the case just give the spot to someone who will give a John Starks effort just to stay in the league (Carter?)

Why would Walsh claim he won't use the Mobley contract in a trade but will instead use it to save money, and then turn around and buy out Hughes?

I also didnt' see anything remotely like evidence in the quoted article for the claim that Hughes will be bought out.

I was really expecting a decent season from him. Oh well, let him go. Who thought trading Tim Thomas would've hurt this much
I thought the Knicks made a big mistake by getting rid of Tim Thomas because he was playing good. Not only that, but he brought good outside shooting as well as being a postup player in the paint. Right now we really only have Al Harrington that can post up. Tim also had good chemistry with the team when he was here.

As far as Larry Hughes, he has just had too many injuries. He is just not the same player he once was.

tim thomas was good for ny but he was instantly hated because i think kvh was lost in the trade for him even though he was an upgrade from kvh. as for hughes he needs to get over whatever he needs to get over he is staring his career in the face and he is a step away from being out of the nba completely, find your bollox man.

actually i hated Tim Thomas cuz i knew he was a lazy, underachieving coaster who never played up to his talent anywhere he had played in the past... nothing changed when he got to NY.

But he's making $14 mil this year, that ain't chump change these days. IF, and only IF he becomes a chemistry problem then I would agree with you, but he's playing for a new contract, and I doubt he pulls a Marbs.

Very depressing....one player after another seems to be quitting on this team. Its not a good story for the team, we really seem to be the bottom of the barrell now. Hopefully things will start looking up, but don't count on it.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!
