Quote from Al Harrington today

"We took 41 3's [Tuesday film and we turned down ike 15. [D'Antoni] just wants us to take open shots. We're a jump shooting team," Harrington said. "Some of the shots may be bad to our fans, but[bad shooting] night, but we hope it is. The law of averages . . . so you just gotta roll with the punches and let it go."

So looks like wants the team to shoot 56 threes a game. We are doomed.

It's also possible that some of the veteran players are just pacing themselves and not wanting to attack the rim and potentially get hurt in a pre-season game. Same for Wilson in terms of coming off his ankle injury -- may not be comfortable attacking the basket yet.

The team did score 108 a game last year --- scoring isn't an issue.

Biggest concern is whether or not Gallo will fit in this system with this group of players and whether or not he's a legit player - same of Jordan Hill because if we missed on either guy at #6 or #8 --- that's a big boo-boo.

yet another great point within the more general 'it's the ****ing preseason' sentiment.

these confused 'fans' are focusing on a horrible shooting performance while totally ignoring the much improved defensive effort. there will only be a handful of 80 point games for the knicks this year, if any.

sam mitchell's philosphy was to take more shots, or as he would say "mo' shats". he thought a team should take 100 shots a game.

it appears d'antoni is smitch's apprentice...

Every team is going to take away the pick and roll by putting a defender in the lane. Until we can get one guy to hit wide open shots on the wing teams will continue to do that. I think gallnari will be fine once he gets his legs back. I am really worried about Chandler he has no feel for the game and wants to be a jump shooter. 30% from the three makes you a guy that should attack the rim with his athleticism. If this team had Novak or Kapano they would average 20 points a game.

I don't think we have enough good shooters on this team to really get the most out of D'Antoni's system. Yet, people will realize that we aren't going to shoot like the Philly game every night.

I've said it before and I'll said it again. I actually like the shots that we are getting. For the most part, we are taking open shots that we should be hitting at a better rate. I obviously hate to see when guys go one on one and chuck up a terrible shot (cough cough Larry Hughes). Yet, that hasn't happened too often in preseason so far.

I think our offense will score points this season (just like last season) because D'Antoni's offense is THAT much better than what most other teams run. When you spread the floor with shooters, it makes your offense so much tougher to stop. Once our guys are shooting at their normal rate, we'll have a decent offense. Plus, if Gallo stays healthy this season and gets minutes, he'll make our team better offensively than we were last season.

"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

how many times and how many way.. they are BELOW average. For a math major your having a hard time with the concept. Being 20th out of 30 teams is not average, its considerably below. To bad they missed out on Curry... dude would be dropping 40 a night

how exciting it will be to see a team of 3s clankers take that shot 100 times a game. o joy. dolan in a lot of ways is an absentee owner. only thing that gets him to show is hearing booing at the garden game after game. expect dolan to make an appearance this season if d'toni doesnt wtfu. dolan gives you just enough rope to hang yourself.

Thanks, blobman. My sentiments exactly. Last year it was "they never play any D". Now they are playing D and it's "they can't shoot 3s". Well, yes they can shoot, and if they aren't full force to the rim yet, hopefully that will come, too.
