Supreme and Franco make good points. Walsh is completely clueless in my opinion. He has done very little to get this god-father rep that he seems to have earned. From the draft picks, to sleeping through the trade deadlines, to the latest Mobley insult... its too much for me.

MDA is almost functioning like a college coach here. He's trying to put in a gimmick system that will win us more games than we would just playing head to head against teams, which is a complete indictment of the talent here, and his main job is recruiting for 2010.

So many coaches use Mike's system or parts of it now that I really would have to see him struggle with real players to believe he's not a good coach.

The way we played in the SL and the preseason so far from a scheme standpoint is unbelievable. There is no high-low action like Briggs said, and yes we're missing Zach, Hill is looking busty, etc etc, but Al Jr, and Chandler can post up their guys. We can get high-low action without getting right under the basket. And...where has that Duhon pick and roll gone?

If what we've seen isn't just a drill, and we're playing like this on purpose, then Nate has to start and be the centerpiece of the offense. No other player has a chance to initiate efficient offense, and that says a mouthful when that guy is Nate.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Gentlemen, can we please use these games to look at cobinations and individual players... Let's not let these games push us over the edge...we have 82 games for that.

Not when they are taking 40 3s. fcking play the game the right way atleast

So with you on that Brigg, this is not good basketball! PERIOD

The fact that the jury is out on Hill & Gallo, even at this point in their careers, is scary given where they were picked.

i don't agree w/that statement one bit... Gallo's a 20 yo kid & Hill is a rook... of COURSE the jury's still out on those kids... the same can be said about most of the kids taken in the lottery the past 2 years... u can't expect every lottery pick to come in & make instant impacts

Ok...Blair is one thing, although at number 29 thats a low risk pick, but can anyone tell me why we didnt draft Jennings?

With D'antoni's system why not let a dynamic talent like that run around the floor like a fool for 25-30 minutes? Wouldnt that attract free agents if Jennings develops into a young, exciting playmaker. Mang, we need a point guard! Free agents would want to play with somebody like that.

Yeah, Jennings cant shoot, but Hill cant play. And Douglas can hit the ocean from a rowboat.

I think D'Antoni had his pick with Gallo in 08 when there was a tremendous amount of known can't miss talent available. I think Walsh tightened things up and took control and went for more safe picks this year. I think Walsh has made two mistakes that will hold back the progression of the Knicks, hiring D'Antoni and selecting Gallo in 08 in possibly the deepest most talented draft in history. Since that time I think he has been patient and cautious in his attempt to rebuild the franchise and it is working for him.

I think some of you are over reacting, but I'll say it over and over...in order for MDA to have success with a team he needs a High IQ pg who can run, pass and shoot 3's. We have that in duhon but he's a poor man version of that, and the fact that he has less talent and experience around him makes it worse.

BTW this was the first game i watch so far, and it really didn't look as if Al was making a contious effort to pass the ball unless he had to.

Honestly I don't think so--and neither did the fans at the Garden who usually boo when appropriate. 41 3 point shots is a disgrace--the guy who said it was the Antoine Walker game plan was dead on. I don't mind losing[heck weve been used tot hat] but to play so undisciplined--even David Lee who seems to be moving farther and farther from the basket is not acceptable. We need to contain the number of 3 points shots to 15-20 max and look for better shots and better flow. Philadelphia looked HORRIBLE without a PG --they were turning the ball over what seemed like every other possession with poor passing/decision making--so why arent we taking advantage of that and driving the ball at the basket and picking up full court on D at times? If a team has suspect ball-handlers--you attack the weakness. We were content with nonchalant undisciplined play and that is to lay blame on the coach for letting it happen.
And if Jordan Hill is willing to play near the basket Im willing to give him 30-35 minutes to see what he can do now that D Lee is trying to be Troy Murphy jr. David Lee must realize for as he steps away from the basket--he can subtract numbers from his next contract because that is not what has gotten him here.

bbj is smart - he took off and will return in 12 months...

the reason why some posters on this forum are upset is b/c there's been no basketball since last april, they were waiting for the knicks, they finally see the knicks, and dud city...

i guess the example would be a kid staying up all night for their christmas present to open it up and it being a ruler and a pencil case.

Explain to me what pre-season and taking 41 three's have to do with each other? you use pre-season to get ready for the regular season--is that style of play acceptable? Of course not--that was dreadful and personally I don't want to see it again. You don't have pre-season to teach bad habits and saying it's just pre-season is usually the start of excuse city in the NBA.

think, we could trade jefferies and chandler for SJax and we could have signed Sessions. if we did those two things we'd have $2M less in cap space for 2010 then we do currently, but we'd have a roster and team that make sense for the style of play our coach wants:

PG Sessions
SG SJax
SF Harrington
PF DLee
C Darko

bench: Duhon, Nate, Gallo, Jordan Hill, Toney

S Jax sucks balls. I'm not a Chandler fan but Jackson is a downgrade and a waste of money, as well as a guy with a poor attitude. NO to him on all counts.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Trade everyone build and around Blair. Literally around. Each year the around part gets a bigger circumference.

What a cynical thread this is. I am not ready to throw in the towel before the season begins, or even after the first dozen terrible losses. IMO, we are on (yet another) 3 year plan with a new captain at the helm. It's been so bad for so long, I am not going to chop off the new guys' heads until they prove how much they suck. We need to see some hoops that count before we can judge.

i'm giving Donnie 1 more year... he made every move with 2010 in mind, if he fails to bring in a stud to build this team around by then, then his plan has failed as far as i'm concerned... i would have wanted to clear off the crap contracts anyway, so i'm glad Donnie went the way that he did, but u can't sell a franchise & its entire fanbase on a singular plan for 3 years & not have it come to fruition & consider it a success.
