I have grown to respect and like Reggie MIller for the warrior he was.

He killed us, but you gotta give the man and his career props for what he did.

Tim Hardaway I think saved his best for us but usually it was not enough.

Earl Monroe was so scarey the knicks were able to get him in trade! Earl alone beat out 1971 team himself eventually losing to Alcinders Bucks. And we would have beaten them Bucks! Earl was unstoppable even to clyde. Earl and Willis got hurt in 1972 and we lost in the finals to Wilts Lakers. But we made the finals.

If we did sign Allan Houstan, the plan was next going to Indy to get Reggie signed. Thats the rumor according to Checketts.

I would say this about sums it up

Putting Walsh in the company of these people. That doesn't sum **** up. That's straight retarded. try again.

I was waiting for someone to freak out. If we don't get LeBron, Donnie's going to get lumped into this group without hesitation from the media or the fans. Half of the guys drafted past Gallo in the first round of the 2008 draft turned out to be serious players, and the 2009 draft isn't looking much better through the SL and preseason. Walsh is benefiting from the failure before him, but he'd better start making real progress instead of just chewing on Werther's Originals while trying to put the media to sleep about this team. The alarm bell will hit with authority in 9 months. He'd better be primed and ready for that. Donnie seems to be drafting support players on purpose instead of serious keystone players. Its very odd unless he has a deal under the table already.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

No. We are better off then we were at end of the 07-08 season and we will be even better off in the summer of 2010, regardless of signing anyone. Not sure why you simply can't understand that. Maybe it's the fact that you still can't get over Zach and Crawford getting traded.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Much respect to Reggie and Michael. It would not have been as much fun if we didn't have those battles.

You got to show up to win Championships, and let's face it: Charles Smith was the #1 Knick killer of all time. Simple layup, Charles?

Walsh certainly may have a deal under the table for LeBron. That's the only thing that explains his actions to me. I get annoyed because it seems like he's getting a pass while being outfoxed by the new generation of GM's.

This will be the second year we haven't put out a competitive team. If it goes beyond that it will be a little crazy in a league where more than half the teams make the playoffs.

If you go to Knicks.com and click on "History" there is nothing mentioned passed 2001 as if the team ceased to exist. I'm hoping that Walsh doesn't fall into that black hole in NY Basketball lore.

Outfoxed? Our plan is simple: Layden/s and then Isiah's method of recycling expiring contracts packaged with draft picks did nothing for this franchise but hurt it. The idea was to put an end to such tactics and clean up the mess left behind.

Everyone knew that the earliest possible moment we could do that given the contracts on the books was hopefully the summer of 2010. The fact that that coincides with the best FA crop in quite some time was more of a BLESSING than a PLAN.

Whether or not we land any of Wade, LeBron, Bosh, Amare - is of no consequence. The plan was designed as said: Create flexibility, remove the malcontents and their damaging contracts, stop the process that led to this mess, and put our hat in the ring for the FA bonanza of 2010 and 2011.

Other than lip service to the paying fans there was absolutely NO INTENT to put a winning team on the court last year or this year. There would be no moves to try to improve the roster for a couple of reasons. 1) Adding a player to this poisonous mess would result in continued failure (proven failure). 2) Cut salary. Not going to add players with more years on their salary especially considering point #1. 3) Put your hat in the FA ring of 2010.

The side effect is that us as fans just have to sit here and wait until pretty much THIS TIME NEXT YEAR before we know what is going on with our team.

Now given the failures of the past 8 or 9 years (which were full of open spending) that's just fine to have to sit back and wait. This season is about waiting for that money to come off the books so we can sign players outright AND it's about one big audition year for everyone that is here. The kids have to grow to prove they deserve to be here beyond April. The vets have to do the same.

Outside of that I have no idea what the problem is. I understand the Knick situation and am going to deal with it. Games and player will still piss me off in the heat of the moment but overall I know we have a bigger plan here. That plan is in effect and it's benefits won't be visible for another year. So I will wait. I don't expect this team to panic and go trade for Stephen Jackson and think he'll make us good. The sad thing is there are fans that are upset that we AREN'T going down that road.

so generally speaking, when you take over for a team that won 23, 32 and 23 games the previous year and is capped out for at least 3 more years, you should be able to turn that into a .500 team within 1-2 years?

Glad the expectations are leveled. That makes sense.

Remember Steve Smith? He did seem to kill us all the time.

In fact here is as many I can think of:

NJ: Kenny Anderson
ATL: Steve Smith
CHI: MJ
IND: Reggie & Mark Jackson
ORL: Shaq & Penny
MIA: Tim Hardaway, Voshon Leonard, Dan Marjere and Zo
HOU: Vernon Maxwell
MIL: Ray Allen
PHI: AI

add cassel to that list - although he wld kill everyone he was so clutch on the rockets - think he was only in the league a year or two back then too. the guy was an assassin.

Yes...Sam Cassell: Alien
Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."
