absolutely we completely missed out on curry, who is a pure stud. quote me on that. he's better than monta ellis already - with a more complete game. And curry is a leader and he's not looking to find his game like gallo is.

daye is a gem, but he wasnt lotto. derozan? not sure. jennings? size/mental issues. holiday? jury is still out.

this conversation has gone on already in every thread since the draft

haven't we all already stated our opinions on this?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

JohnWallace you don't be understanding the core concepts. Yea, we discussed all of this, but now is unique because we've seen some basketball action at NBA levels!

We were in a tough spot. We picked 8 in a draft with only 5-6 sure-fire prospects. I probably would have traded up for Curry, even if it meant giving up CHandler. The bottomline is that Chandler and Gallo play the same position anyway and Harrington can also play SF at a high level. We had no PG to speak of. We needed Curry alot more than we needed Chandler. Not sure I would have draft Jennings at 8. He reminds me too much of Marbury in his attitude. But there is no denying that he looks great so far. I probably would traded up or traded down before taking Hill. That being said, I have not given up on Hill yet. He needs another couple of years, but he could turn into a serviceable PF.

If Derozan, Williams and Holiday end up having impacts in our own division, then we're going to look pretty silly, but what else is new?

I think the thing that is frustrating (more currently) for Knicks fans is the conservatism with how things have gone. There were some really high upside guys available to us (E.g. - Jennings and Derozan) and we go with a guy who needs a fair amount of time to develop and who's upside might not be as high as either of those two guys. Though that is debatable as big men impact the game quite differently than smaller guys.

Regarding Curry, for the reason others have mentioned, I would have traded Chandler for him but I think it ALSO involved taking back some bad contracts, and that is where things go against our plan and can hurt us. Now we have Chandler still and this kid has looooads of upside. Luckily in D'Antoni's system we can have guys out there playing at the same time who play the same position.

Anyway, it is pretty frustrating, but we can see how Hill develops. If it appears he is going to flop by years end and we do get another draft pick, perhaps they feel the pressure to do a better job... (That given, Hill was high on their board, oh boy.) I still like Hill, but probably would have went with Jennings, not just to fill a need but because of his star potential. I don't think he is another Marbury, he hasn't really shown that.

Great point and if it happens it's even more pressure on ownership to do something in these drafts. Honestly, if we would have followed Briggs advice we'd be in a waaay better position.
Even though we're all a fan of this team, we are all frustrated with how they draft, and I'm sure having those guys you mentioned in the same division as us it going to make things interesting this and next year.

The bottom line is, as a fan, you can certainly gawk at your neighbor’s grass. That’s your right. But all I ask is that you be fair about it.See both sides of the story. Nothing Jennings has done has led me to believe that drafting Jennings and, say, Dejuan Blair or Dante Cunningham was a better alternative than Hill and TD. Yes, Blair has been impressive for the Spurs, but they are the freekin’ Spurs. I understand the idea that the 8th pick should be a decent impact player, and I’d like to think that Hill will make his mark as the season goes along.

But if fans want to throw in the towel after two preseason games, there’s obviously nothing wrong with that.

Nah there's nothing even remotely legit about giving up on a guy 2 preseason games into his career!!! I mean come on! How can anyone possibly know what these kids are really gonna do at this point? The difference between these early preseason games and the regular season is so great that we can't really gauge much from the performances these kids put up. At least not anything of a long term nature.

What happens if the other draftees have bad games the rest of the preseason and Hill has increasingly good games? Does that prove anything really?

I liked Rubio or Curry but they were already taken. I could cry all day about that but instead I have high hopes for Toney Douglas. He is an animal on defense and we need that. Hill is a project - I have been knocking him since I saw him in SL but he did play a lot better against the Celtics.

Other choices - interesting read by Tommy Dee

In his last game against the Bulls, Brandon Jennings managed 3-12 from the field and 6 points in 25 minutes.

In fairness, I was very impressed with Stephen Curry last night against the Suns, but wasn’t at all interested in giving up Wilson Chandler in order to move up to get him.
