Point guards are important but there have been some good teams that did not have very good point gaurds:

Shaq and Lakers before this year.
Jordan and the Bulls.
Duncan and Robinson First time around.
Oh and that team that never won but was competitive:
Ewing and the Knicks.

And no one is expecting Chaney to make this team as good as any of the above.

NOway old fan, the triangle doesn't need a point guard so you can cancel out shaq and Lakers and Jordan and bulls comparisons, the bottom line on this(KNICK) team a point guard is needed more than anything else!
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

The most glaring need is that of a real coach. Nothing will be solved unless we have a better coach in there.

All those team you mentioned had one thing a superstar or superstars. Topped with good coaching. With the Bulls they had MJ and Pippen who handled the basketball like guards, Lakers have Kobe who can play PG if need be same with MJ and Pippen. Ewing team had Derek Harper who was probably the best PG the Knicks have had. The other Ewing team had Ward and Childs, who were younger and had pretty good defense. The Knicks don't have any superstar Ewing was the last superstar. Duncan and Robinson superstars. You can get away with a decent PG but without a superstar to go to the PG of NYK calibur won't get it done. Thats why the Spurs the first time they won could get away with Avery Johnson at the PG spot with Duncan and Robinson it didn't have to be great.

Ward and Houston run the club. McDyess is trying to find his place. Watch how focused they are tonight

YA know what is really sad? The Bucks who traded away their big3 and have a rookie PG and a rookie head coach, are 12-14 and 3 games ahead of the Knicks! THe Knicks have a veteran Head coach and a veteran team, that rookies cannot even get off the IL on! What a FREAKING disgrace. Yeah, tonight is the turning point. How many times have we already heard that this year? Don't hold your breath until Chaney is gone. He must go.

As for Time Warner dropping MSG, it figures. Dolan has managed to ruin the Knicks and the Rangers and less fans come to MSG. Now he wants the fans to pay more $$ to watch his pathetic teams on TV. I think he just want s to take the games of the air so no one notices how horrrid the teams are!

I was referring to the recent Era. Specifically the recent teams and championships. Yes Frazier was the best NYK pg and after that its been a long drought of good PGs in NY. Jackson was good, Strickland never got the chance. Cheeks at the tail end of his career.

I HAVE ALREADY JUDGED THE KNICKS AND I FIND THEM GUILTY OF PLAYING BORING, UNINSPIRED BASKETBALL. I SENTENCE THEM TO YEARS OF MEDIOCRITY AND HUMILIATING DEFEATS.

I judged the Knicks at the start of the season, and stand by those statements. The more we lose, the more accurate that prediction becomes.

We're not making anyone's playoffs. The losing will continue until a major shakeup occurs.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

A point guard to take over the flow in OT would have helped.

Knicks fans be patient, knowing McDyess was returning off a two-year absence and Allan Houston and Keith Van Horn had spent more time in preseason in the trainers room than on the court. The time leading up to mid-January, " then you you look and judge their progress." I AM PLAYA
