Yet giving up on Hill after he's been with the Knicks about 4 months as a rookie. Don't understand that one.

I hate you guys sometimes.

Nobody has "given up" on Hill. He just looks terrible and he's getting called out. And remind me when Hill has averaged 20 pts in the NBA.

Wasn't Chris Childs last contract voided due to fatness?

I think it was...he was still in Toronto right?

I think so. Childs went the Buster Douglas route in that after getting satisfied with his accomplishments decided to live the life and eat anything in sight.

Eddy and Jerome James got paid and decided to not try anymore. Good for them bad for the Knicks.

Correction...He was with the Nets when he was suspended due to fatness. They negotiated a buyout and was league approved. Hopefully, we can do the same with Eddy.

Maybe we should define the word bust then.

To me there is a difference between saying a guy is currently terrible and needs a lot of work to turn into a good player, and calling a guy a "bust". Maybe it's just that I'm not on the same page as everyone else with the definition for this term.

to be a bust you need to showcase your 'bust-ability' over time. that proves you are a bust. you cant call hill a bust yet, becaouse his body of work is just begining in the nba. as for timeframe, dunno, but i would think it would takre a season or two minimum.

the only absolute 'bust', i think, is when a player falls out of the NBA. all other 'busts' are relative to what the person describing the bust had expected of the player at hand.

If DW manages to get Lazy Eddy and Glue off this team this season, he should just be handed the GM of the Year.

Is it wrong to expect the 8th pick taken in the draft to play for a 32 win team and make some kind of contribution?

Am I reading this wrong, or have MDA & Walsh basically said Hill won't play because he 'needs to adapt' to the NBA speed?

So a 19 year old with bad back and only experience with Euro ball was able to gut it out and play, but Hill won't?

I don't think it's wrong. But then again, the season has not started yet, his career has not started yet. So how do we hold this all against him now? Walsh and D'antoni say he's not ready. Maybe he proves them wrong early season. maybe he's ready midseason, late season, next year. We all wanted a guy ready made and can contribute right away, but that doesn't mean he's a bust if he cannot. History should tell us this but for some reason it doesn't. If guys never developed then why wouldn't teams just cut them if they aren't producing after their first preseason game?

Its all semantics, but I just think its a way to communicate that you dont have much faith that a player can turn it around. Similar to how down people are about Eddy. Im the first cat to get on Knick fans for being too myopic about our players, but in Hill's case, however, he has shown us nothing so far. He's been hideous. Nothing I can hang my hat on and say, yeah he'll improve.

I didn't see anything that thrilled me about Hill in college and I still don't, but I'm not yet ready to label him a bust. He's got some serious work to do though.

I think that's fair. I don't think I disagree with any of the assessments on Hill. He has not looked good. That being said the physical tools are there. The question is can he put them to any use in the NBA. Tough to measure his heart and capacity to learn. All I know is that he showed tremendous improvement in college in a short period of time. No guarantee he can make that adjustment at the NBA level, but to me it's still encouraging. Regardless of what we think of him, he has shown an ability to learn and improve.

Sebstar I take you out of the group I'm talking about. But it just seems like we have a set group of fans that are just in a hurry to label everyone a bust. I just don't understand the rush. I wanted Derozan. I prayed for Derozan. I was extremely disappointed when he was not selected. That being said, time to move on.
