Earl:

You just suggested that it's okay for him to chuck a brick from three because a nice drive might be coming.

You just suggested it's okay that he might chuck a bad pass into the leg of a defender or step on the sideline because he might have a nice TO stat.

You're suggesting it's okay that he frequently receives and holds the ball and ends up confused as to what to do with it or who to pass it to because there might be a nice dunk on the way at some point.

Simply put he is not an all-star or super-star to be as some make him out to be. He is a complimentary role player who can put up some good games (like ATL) and some really horrid games where he's got 3-4 TOs and gone 1-4 from 3PT range.

His .271 from 3pt range, something he likes to attempt too frequently even when the ability to drive to the hoop or drive and pull up from within his known shooting range is available, is atrocious, and poor decision making.

Earl - there is no agenda on this end - I call it how I see it. The agenda is yours propping up an average player as a superstar and then telling those who disagree that they have no basketball knowledge.

"Simply put he is not an all-star or super-star to be as some make him out to be."

You care to name names on that claim?

Propping up Wilson Chandler as a superstar? Cosmic, your reading comprehension may also need some work. He is a talented and versatile yoot who will only get better. I like him because he he is likeable.

Wilson Chandler is no superstar. He is The Mayor!

I am, as always, his loyal campaign manager

He's taking better shots, like his spinning jumper, has had some nice turnarounds against smaller players who guard him (something Gallo has to work on in the offseason), and he is driving to the basket with more confidence. His game 12' and under from the basket has been his biggest improvement this year, IMO.

A lot of this has to do with the fact that his injury is probably completely healed at this (time). Guys around here were getting on his case at the beginning of the year, seemingly choosing to overlook the fact that he was coming off a foot injury.

I am not going to question his BB IQ. He looks pretty solid now, is doing a lot of positive things for the team, and lest anyone forget, he is only 22.

Hands off Chandler. Why is everyone in a rush to move assets for pie in the sky? Injury prone players. Player with little time in the league, who you think are going to be something special. Right now Channing Frye, with the same time that Nate Robinson has, is our sweet shooting big, on another team. Chandler, who had little development time this summer, is more then holding his own, being less then 100%. Let's develop our own and add patiently. We can't make up for the past(lost players and draft choices).

Some of us (me included) have to shut our mouth sometimes because we don't know the inner workings of the franchise and what goes on everyday.

I was one of the posters here that called Wilson out earlier this season and thought he was playing terribly. I did say at the time that if there was a legitimate excuse for it (i.e. him still recovering from injury and feeling the effects), then we could throw those opinions out the window.

Per D'Antoni, it looks like Wilson is just getting his legs back now and that is why he seems to be driving to the hoop now instead of settling for jumpers. When he does this, he transforms from a mediocre player to a pretty damn efficient one. Wilson has been a big part of our improved play lately and I'm glad he is starting to get back to form.

MDA obviously got into Wilson's head that he needs to take it strong to the hoop & it's been paying dividends... he's become a much more efficient scorer of late instead of just settling for jumpshots... dude is the most athletic player on this team & has it in him to be a go-to type scorer if he gained a little more confidence in his own ability.

He is taking shots closer to the basket which is what he should be doing since he isn't a SG no matter what D'Antoni says. I still don't see him getting much better though.

AnubisADL - it is one thing to say you don't see Wilson Chandler getting much better, yet quite another to give your reasons why.

Hold up, The Mayor just blocked another shot...

i think Wilson is looking better than he's ever looked on both ends of the floor right now... being real aggressive going to the hole, blocking shots, in total synch w/his teammates... that alley oop from Duhon looked like second nature, i didn't even see it coming... also love his humility in post game interviews, giving credit to his teammates like Lee & Duhon before taking any for himself... if this kid ever develops a killer instinct in crunchtime he's gonna be a star.

wilson = off the hinges. but who doesn't seem so in a 74-point blow out? still, overall, love the kid. after the riff raff is sorted, provided he's still with us, chandler will really come into his own next season.

So let me get this straight, The Mayor is the leading scorer and fills up the stat sheet (except in turnovers) in nearly the largest points advantage in Knicks history and there is not one feature article about him? Yet there are three feature stories about Larry Hughes who didn't play.

I demand a recount!

Controversy Sells

bippity - the downside of this digital town hall is that it encourages dissent as the norm. Perceived as equal to published sources, everyone is an expert... and everyone is smarter than the next person. Rather than fostering understanding and enlightening a dialogue, arguments break out on the drop of one misplaced or misunderstood thought. The anonymous nature of the conversation takes us one step away from a handshake and one step closer to a fist fight.

If the Knicks had lost to the Pacers by 45 there would have been enough postage to clog the lines for days.

Win by 45 and all is quiet while a few people still look for negative things to debate.

Is Nate a victim or is it fair to Larry Hughes?

Not one mention of the leading scorer.

sheesh.

careful what you preach. You're far from an example of humility. Your posts reek of haughtiness and pomposity.

More generally, I especially love how every poster is smarter than professional GMs and coaches whose
lives are basketball, and actually know these players first hand.

So so true. And they project their own feelings on to these guys as well. Coach must have it in for Nate etc..

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Panos - seriously, my posts only reek of haughtiness and pomposity if you feel threatened or cannot take a joke. If you care to cite a specific example of "haughtiness" or "pomposity" I would be happy to engage you in a spirited debate over entertainment value and intent.

Chill.

It's only basketball.

Did you vote for The Mayor today?
