Subway is awful but its crazy cheap and I actally lost weight by going on their diet too. You just have to not get cheese or any of the sauces that have fat in it. Basically eat ham and mustard on wheat bread with all the veggies and peppers. Its terrible but it works.

nothing will ever take the place of gyros from the street.

Disgusting, man.

And I'm Greek.

exactly. This conversation is pathetic. Street meat rules. Gyros and the mystery kababs are great too... hit sauce and that little stale piece of bread at the bottom the stick

Ur eating cat, bruh. One thing I dont miss about the city is the constant temptation to eat trash like gyros and hot dogs.

I dont get this. The meat is acceptable and the veggies are good. Bread is bomb.

See where ya'll go wrong is slathering those sandwiches with mayo and mustard. Thats devil's food and it ruins the sandwich. Your taste buds lost.

Mustard isn't bad for you at all. It's mayo that's bad.

Don't you ever wonder about the cleanliness of the vendors they basically have food sitting out in all kinds of conditions. And it doesn't look like there is a great deal of hand-washing going on unless you count the times they dip their hands in the water with the hotdogs. Not that nastiness can't happen in sit-down places but street meat particularly in NY to me just smells and looks so foul.

^ I agree. I'm not a big fan of street vendor food either. A lot of people laud those Halal food carts also but.. I don't know.

I used to like those street kebabs until i saw one of the nasty places where they store those things overnight. Stank. And a freaking rat rave all night long, I'm sure.

Have you ever had fast food? If you have, I wouldn't worry much about street vendors but much more about those 'squeaky clean' fast food chains. At least when I buy from a street vendor, I be helping the streets.

How about have neither fast food, nor street meat and go to the grocery store and buy and make your own meat, which is cheaper and healthier.

That crap is so bad for you and it's not even necessarily the meat alone. It's all the crap that they throw on the meat, put together. Not saying the meat is OK.

I'm more into hunting cougars while riding a unicycle. That's the ultimate excercise for your mind body and spirit. Then I call it a day after hunting an alligator with my own two hands!
