His game has improved in some area every year. This year he will be better defensively and still put up big number and they will improve on wins just like they did last year.

Last year's improvement had absolutely nothing to do with David Lee.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I don't get why no team like Dallas or San Antonio or Boston even offered Lee the full MLE for 5 years (unless he isn't as good as King says). Yeah, there's the risk the Knicks will match but then there's no loss anyway. It ties up the MLE for the 7 day period when you're waiting for the Knicks to potentially match but it's not like there's another "17/11 with 1 block/game" player that they'd be signing for the MLE in that 7 day period anyway. And it's hard to imagine the Knicks actually matching and adding $32 mil to their future payrolls given the 2010 plan.

it's probably b/c:

1. his agent wasn't going to let him sign for that cheap
2. knicks would match that contract

restricted free agents have tough time getting long term deals...especially in this nba economic climate...
That would have been a great situation for his agent. He makes a heck of a lot more money if Lee signs a $32 mil deal than a $8 mil deal. And he still makes that money if the Knicks match. Put a player option on the third year and Lee can choose to test the FA market again soon if he has a big year or can sit pretty with $32 mil guaranteed. I think it's as simple as no team wanting to make a long-term commitment to him. It's the only explanation that makes sense.

but your talking like you know what has gone on behind the scenes...when you don't.

what about ben gordon last summer vs. this summer? nobody wanted ben gordon last summer? his agent got him $60 mil this summer.

A noteable difference is BG played for the QO and then left. Lee was just given almost triple the QO. What did Lee's agent have to promise to get that?

So you're saying the situation is comparable and no one wanted Lee long-term this summer? Then we agree. If you're saying the Gordon situation is similar and teams are gonna go big time after Lee next summer when there's a dozen star FAs and when it's hard to see Lee having a better statistical season than this one, then you must be smoking the same stuff his agent is.

i'm saying you have no clue what lee's agent was able to get him this summer. in fact...did you not read the article where nate mcmillan had dinner with lee and was talking contract when they couldn't reach a sign and trade with walsh?

you nor i know what's gone on behind the scenes but you think you do...

damn Dj how did you know about the dinner. Lee said he would come to Portland but they would have to trade Alderidge, Oden, and bring back twardzik and Lionel Hollins for Lee to make the jump.

GK how did lee improve then did MDA rebound for him. So I guess since it was none of Lee doing then his crummy defense wasnt his fault also. I hope Devry didnt charge you alot to go to school.

Are you insulting my intelligence? The same guy who is trying to ask a question but only types out a run on sentence? Nice. There's a thing called periods and commas. Use them.

Lee didn't lead the Knicks to victories. The hiring of D'Antoni and the trading of cancers and garbage did. Lee rebounded nearly the same like he always has and he inflated his scoring statistics a bit. Besides that, what did he do? He was the go-to guy on the team? He was the guy teams gameplanned for? No. He just sucked ass on defense.

I hope Lee is traded so you can leave forever. I'd like that.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Let's not blow this "improvement" out of proportion. If you look at the Hollinger stats, he's been the same player since his sophomore year--slightly more points and slightly lower rebounding and shooting percentages (although the latter two are still very good).

I am glad for Lee.
He has people who love him as a player and people who hate him as a player.
This means to me he is something interesting.
A lot of NBA players are not worth talking about. So king1 and GFK make out boy Lee a good one.

Rick brunson is the Knicks best point guard. The knicks are built to run if he got starters minutes he could be right there with the leaders. Jason kids lite.
