If this guy is suffering from depression and not showing up to camp, I hope he's OK. I think he needs to retire from ball and get help to be honest with you.

A lot of people with depression can't have ANY kind of job. It's too much for them.

Yeah these major professional athletes really need to look into this exercising thing. It's gonna be big.

very funny, but let's think about this seriously-- jerome james, eddy curry, delonte west (depression if not obesity), vin baker (loved alcohol), chris mullin (loved alcohol), jayson williams (loved something bad too mmuch, i suppose), etc.,

alright, maybe that post was a little confused, but do you understand? delonte, although an nba player, is obviously not doing enough to keep busy. again, what if he actually WENT TO PRACTICE this week, wouldn't that do something to alleviate his depression????

first of all i like this guy a lot. he was the only cav besides lebron to show up against orlando, and he kept taking it hard to the rim and battling when all his teammates except for #23 had decided to dial it in. they should have traded every mofo on that team after that series except for the 2 of them.

secondly the guy's got some bad emotional stuff going on. his admission a year or so ago about his depressive disorder and his treatment for it was pretty dramatic. against that backdrop this recent incident is especially serious. this isn’t something that keeping busy is going to impact one iota.

Marv, I love the guy. As someone that has achieved the ultimate in sports-- a starting position on a professional sports club-- this guy provides me with a lot of motivation and support when i am feeling blue. What he is dealing with is not to be joked with. But it is also not something to be used as an excuse. If he was keeping busy this summer instead of running wild all over Maryland, the LeBrons' would have a much better shot at a title this year. Someone with the specific problems that he has has to take it upon himself to work EXTRA hard to keep busy, EXTRA hard to stay out of trouble, etc.,... that's just how the life is for people with such afflicitions. Let us pray for him but let us not fall down the slippery slope of excusing and rationalizing a pro athlete's behaviour, no matter how much we like the guy.

Delonte said he was back on his medication at media day. I do not know about his medication but if it is a bloodlevel med it might take awhile for it to build back up in his system. Delonte might benefit from leaving camp and going to a facility until his medication levels are stabilized.

For sure, most anti depressants, actually all that i know of, take maybe a week, 2 weeks to take full effect, and even then they are not the most reliable...which is why you see tv ads for augmentation with a seperate drug nowadays. but yea, crushalot, hadn't thought of that-- he might have gone through the desperado arrest, realized he still needed help, and started on meds again after thinking he was done with the problem from last season.
