A couple of things, 1 the lakers picked him and I like their eye for talent. Even tho their picks are kind of matter if fact for them. 2 the guy has some intriguing talents. MDA could make good use of real point forward. PG skills in a 6-9 package. Seems like he's feast or famine, either 3pt'ers or slashing with not much mid range game. On this team that may not be a problem. 3. He could be real useful when we play Nate at the 2. We could let Nate bring it up to avoid Sun getting pestered by small quick guards, but then Sun could take over the PG duties half court to take advantage of his great court vision.

I'm hoping this is what MDA is thinking. Camp is already peaking my interest now.

I can understand your intrigue, but your point #1 makes no sense. If you like their eye for talent, why would you be excited about somebody they just dumped?

can he put Nate on his shoulders during a game?

They can do some of that crazy acrobat stuff at half time!

what's not to understand? The Lakers are LOADED with talent and just won a World Title! When was he ever gonna get a chance to play? They could replace him with a cheaper guy to sit on the end of the bench. Sun getting waived isn't necessarily an indictment of his potential. I think the Lakers picked him cuz they thought he'd be a good prospect in the 2nd rd. This is still a business tho and guys like him get cut for financial reasons all the time.

I realize he's not likely to stick here either, it's just fun talking about possibilties for new players.

Training camp scrub #3 arrives on the scene.

Here, let me write the future on these guys:

10-23-09 : Knicks waive G Sun Yue, F/C Warren Carter, G Gabe Pruitt

....although I feel that Pruitt might stick as that extra guard.

I keep reading that the contract is "partially guaranteed". What does that mean? Does it mean he'll be on the roster this season or no?

It probably means he's guaranteed a training camp spot but anything after that isn't guaranteed.

Hey man it's fun. There isn't anything else to speculate on. I'll be rooting for this guy to be better than advertised and force the knicks to consider him. That would be fun. I can tell you the knicks would love that too LOL. All those extra ticket sales during the season to see if this guy gets on the floor.

We've had some pretty useless guys at the end of our bench I can't see how he'd hurt things. No scout says he can pass! We need more passing. They say he handles the ball well and has excellent court vision. Maybe he's had a chance to improve on his weaknesses.

we signed a complete waste of space in Anthony Robersuck to a 2 year guaranteed deal a little while back & people were OK with it saying it was no big deal either way... now we sign up a younger, bigger & faster guy w/more skills to a non-guaranteed spot on the roster & people are bothered by it... there's logic for ya.

Who said it was no big deal? From what I remember, most people thought it sucked balls.

bro, i was having argument w/martin & a bunch of others on this forum about how i was overreacting to why i thought signing up a scrub to a guaranteed deal like that was an idiotic move to make... feel free to go back & search those threads if u like.

I am pretty sure that Roberson was a 1 year deal, and I am still comfortable saying it was no big deal. Don't know why others are complaining about training camp fodder.

there is a lot of difference between a guaranteed deal like Roberson's and a non-guaranteed deal like the ones we've been giving out this summer.

Hey i'm all for bringing in guys that don't replicate what we already have. Sun seems to be a guy that could be developed into a glue guy. Whenever you have a guy with SF/PF size that can handle the ball well, keep it moving and make smart passes to open guys, that's a plus for your team concept. From what i've read it seems that he's gotten comfortable shooting the 3 and again that would seem to fit what we need. They say he's a slasher too and is good at finishing. We'll see, but those are things we could use.

Guys brought up Boris Diaw and at 1st glance he looked like a scrub based on what he had accomplished up to that point when MDA brought him in and gave him a perfect role. Now i'm not saying he's Diaw, but maybe he could be taught to play that kind of role. Perhaps more of a Point Forward than even Diaw was, cuz Diaw had more strength IMO and less handle and mobility.

Here's a little more Sun Yue for all da haterz
