Ok - this is what I don't understand. I can see wanting to see what the F. Williams can do. And I can see being unhappy with a lot of Chaney's decision. But I can't see how starting F.W. is a no-brainer like a lot of folks think.

If I wanted to take a chance and hope he became better then Ward and Eisley I'd play him. But if I wanted to play the better current point guards - Eisley and Ward are both better right now.

If Frank is already as good as or better then Ward and Eisley why don't his stats show any of it:

- His field goal % is .321
- His assist to turnover ration is 1.71.
- His assists per 48min are 7.0.

All well below the guys who are getting more minutes.

Eisley and Ward aren't that good - but they're not as bad as many people on this board make them out to be and F.W. - has potential but to quote an old coach "Potential gets you fired".

Anyone loving that two handed rebound dunk that Mcdyess had in crunch time? not to mention that breakaway dunk a few seconds later. I'll admit my boy Antonio sucked through most of the game but he came through when it COUNTED. Also, his rebounding totals lately have been sick! I think he's slowly but steadily getting back to the 20 point, 10 rebound guy he was with the Nuggets.

GO KNICKS, Keep hope alive!
McDyess is GOD

again I made this point in the other thread and I'll make it here:

--exactly he will get better with playing time. You can't much worse than eisely who misses and takes too many shots, doesn't penetrate, turns the ball over at the worst times.

We have nothing to lose by playing Frank! Eisely is awful!!! There is a reason why he never played a minute for Van Gundy!!

He can't run a team! oh and I forgot to mention how ATROCIOUS his Defense is!!!

Point well taken. His stats might not prove he is the better point gaurd. He may not be good enough to start and it might not a no-brainer.
But this is what I have a problem with.
1) he obviously has better abilities to penetrate
2) he gets the ball to the open players in the right places
3) He is and excellent defensive player
4) he can rebound

And he does all this with minimal playing time! How can he ever improve if he doesn't get ot play? He had a great game last night didn't he? Played well down the stretch and Chaney kept him in and we won comfortably. Today HE ONLY GETS 6 MINUTES!!!

I'm not arguing to start him at this point even though he should to develop quicker. I am arguing to get him more playing time!! Our coach is an idiot and I honestly think Frank at this point is pretty equal in skill to Eisely

if chaney can have a philosophy of starting eisely because he's ineffective coming off the bench then you can easily have a more logical arguement for starting Frank cos Eisely sucks!!! whether its off the bench or as a starter. I rather start the ball boy then that worthless piece of ****!!!!!

HAHAHA!!! SOOO TRUE!! Lets see, Ward is 3rd in the league in assits and Howard is doing really bad! I think I will start him and bench Charlie. That makes perfect sense!

I don't mind getting him more playing time - let's see what he can do. My argument is with the forgone conclusion that he is better then our veterans. Obviously unless he is very unlucky he does not get the ball to players in a better position to score - else he would not be averaging 7 assits per 48 minutes - as opposed to the vets who avg 10+ assists per 48 minutes.

I do like his defense and potential. Offensively he is very inconsistent - he's had 3 good quarters.

I think if we play we should expect to be WORSE in the short term not better. Our current starters are Average second string point guards - he is NOT at that level.

I think he is definately at their level and will very sono pass them. Since our opinions differ at a very basic level there is nothing more I can say but atleast you agree that he should get to play more!

More than 6 minutes!

what pisses me off most is he's always our 3rd option at point, even if he's coming off a good game.

What the hell am i thinking any. Frank will never get minutes. It's Eisely who's making all the money

Nice win, Houston was great and Dice had some huge rebounds and buckets, he was a deomon on the boards late. As far as F.will goes, I think he is the better of the 3 PG's but ward does play well in spells, all we are saying is that with minutes Frank can produce, he was instrumental in the win VS, denver then tonight he hardly gets any minutes, that is mind boggling!!

the problem is Frank is never getting the minutes when it is Eisely(the worst of the 3) who starts

Ok - final comment - I hope F. W. turns out to be a great point guard and I would like to see him play more.

It was not a great win tonight - but it was a win. I hope we settle on a rotation sometime before mid season.

Wow.i see we all on the same page, thats a good note.Ward n Eisley just know how to spot up n take jumpers or give his teammate the roc on top of the perimeter and let him do all the work. That only works wit a guy that has a first quick step and a deadly jumper.Um,Houston.Then where does that leave the rest of the team.Oh in no man's land and that was displayed by team offence today.

Anyone see Dice's sweet fullcourt pass to Charlie? This guy can pass. Once he starts posting up, Houston and KVH will get a lot of open jumpers!

Good win. Houston carried them. As I said, with KT there, Mutombo will not play as much. Also, 2 games in a row that KVH did not sniff the court in the 4th quarter. Maybe he will get the message. I hope Chaney keeps it up.
Ward had the hot hand tonight, that is why he played down the stretch. WHat I don't understand is why FWILL got nothing coming off a nice game. the inconsistent time has much to do with his inconsistent play.

OLDfan - the fact is Eisley is horrible ussually. We already know his upside. Lets let Fwill play and figure out if we have a PG of the future. With his limited and inconsistent itme, he has done well.
