THis deal seems to help Utah this year, but will cost them more in the following years. Why wouldn't they just let Boozer expire or trade him to a team with cap space for a draft pick? Utah is a contending team need depth up front. Are Okur and Milsap playing 48 minutes a game? If you can play PF/C off the bench there is 30 minutes a night there. What contender wouldnt want David Lee in that role?

Utah has an $80mm plus payroll and this deal doesnt add $, rather saves them $9 right out of the box this year.

With cash thrown in JJ's contract the following year becomes easier to take.

Utah loses a player that doesnt want to be there (Boozer) and another thats pretty much dont (Harpring) for JJ/Lee. This makes them a better BB team.

The strange thing is that when a lot of posters on this board talk about Lee on another team they say well…with Lee they get a good player and will be better bbol club.
When the same posters talk about David on the Knicks - they said we need to get read of him to get better.

I saw Korver on television the other day, he really enjoys playing in Utah he says.
